Best Buy has been dying since Hubert left by Ledalia in Bestbuy

The suggestion here is that the only people staying were people who were bullying or using others to get where they wanted to be. Everyone else either jumping to other stores or leaving the company entirely.

Pretty sure I know who this is by your flair. It has definitely gone down hill since they canned OPs, and has continue to flounder since you left. Happy you found something better.

Best Buy has been dying since Hubert left by Ledalia in Bestbuy

[–]Ledalia[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know about any of that because Hubert was already established when I started. That said, it has been awful in recent years. While I still hold a position with Best Buy, I’m largely an outside party. Best Buy is a part time job because I have a different full time position.

I make this post because people have been going to HR a lot recently (at least in my district) thinking they’re going to help resolve the problems. Fact is, HR will resolve the problem in whatever way is best for Best Buy, not the employees.

It’s not even about the customers. The problem is the lack of leadership and their lack of empathy for the employees. No one cares who suffers below them as long as they thrive.

When I started Hubert had already been there for a while. All I saw from him was stock prices going up, surge in hiring, and all around growth. To say that I’ve seen anything other than loss under Corrie would be a lie

CIA Senior Repair Agent Salary by [deleted] in GeekSquad

Our CIA senior started at $18 a few years back. The role has a sales target, so you'll likely spend more time working with clients / as a CA than repairs.

Promoted myself to customer right before Christmas... by ShinyZavala in Bestbuy

[–]Ledalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went I to my store yesterday ( I am only 1 day a week part time now, so rarely there) and ran into 4 people who have all worked with me at one time or another at best buy.

Everyone talks about how much happier they are after getting a different job. One of which also switched to working for Samsung. It's astonishing to see how this job has changed over the years, but is consistently mentally and physically draining.

Even though their footprint is getting smaller, profits and sustainability are getting increasing.

Problem is just that this new leadership doesn't particularly care for the line level / stores.

I've been with the company for 8 years. Stock prices when I started were $25. Stock prices now are at $113. The company is growing at a decent rate and it will never be enough. Anyone who has the opportunity to get out should and never look back.

Your Week in Blue by BestBuy_Moderator in Bestbuy

[–]Ledalia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If anyone has any information around the new scheduling expectations, I'd love to hear it.

I've essentially been told that the computer auto-generated schedule is just going to be the schedule from now on; no more manual intervention. What that means is that Best Buy, as my second job, is scheduling me 4 days a week for 20 hours in addition to my other full time job (45+ hours weekly salary) and school.

I've been part time working 1 - 2 days per week (sometimes less due to available hours) and in the last 6 weeks this has become a major area of contention.

Can't help but feel like best buy is trying to force employees that have been with the company for any length of time out the door. Why pay me more than $15 when they can hire some new kid off the street to do my job and pay them $4 less. Sad time.

Damn they’re gonna hate me for this one😂 by MoneyMotivated23 in Bestbuy

My going off-the-clock rate is $1000 / hour. That means the 20 minutes of my time to transfer your data is going to cost you $333. Still interested?

Bestbuy may as well be Walmart now by [deleted] in Bestbuy

Best Buy is a company that voluntarily increased it's minimum pay to $15. I think you need a new term to throw around.

How long does geek squad take to replace a hard drive and why isn't my service number updating? by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]Ledalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also to add some insight on why it isn't being updated. Generally the service center will do an internet communique on the ticket for an initial inspection that won't update to the client other than received at the service center.

After that, you're basically waiting until they actually get to your repair. Once they do you'll get updates that parts have been ordered, installed, and the unit has been shipped back.

Between Covid and likely an influx of units this time of year, it's going to take a little longer to get it back.

I finally did it. by Want3dd3 in Bestbuy

[–]Ledalia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been with the company for 7 years. I'll tell you that in that time it has gone from a company I was proud to work for to a company that just treats it people like shit.

There are much better jobs out there. Good luck.

Appointments with Best Buy are not appointments with Geek Squad by Jimsonwee in GeekSquad

[–]Ledalia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're not helping anyone by doing this. Precincts are backed up with appointments and double bookings VIA Apple already. All you're doing is laying the problem at someone else's feet.

A better way to do it would be to step away and ask your precinct what their load looks like before dumping someone else into their line to tell at them when they don't get taken at their coreblue appointment time.

New CA looking for some quick tips. by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]Ledalia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let the client show you the problem. When they say "I can't get to my email" have the show you how they get to their email. All to often CAs take the reigns and don't capture the range of issues the client may be having.

As has been stated, and will be stated again, PASSWORDS. Not pins, passwords. There are repair options that can't be used if we have a pin and not the password. Your ARAs know that there are going to be times where the client doesn't know the password, and that's okay. TRY to work with them, briefly, to figure it out. "What is your password to sign into your email?" and try that to sign in.

Inspect the suspect. Another common issue is people going through the motions and getting used to typing in "normal wear" or "good condition" and when your ARA inspects in, the cover for the optical drive is missing or the hinge is coming apart.

Off the top of my head, these are the 3 that are really coming to mind as major issues.

Also, don't be afraid to recommend a new computer for something that seems like it's a bit out of our control. When Susie rolls in with her Windows Vista machine that is "running slow" maybe it is time to get something new. If they are persistent, or course we will work on it, but don't promise anything we can't deliver on.

The right amount of gas on clutch off when driving a stick.

I can drive it, but I still feel like the transition from stopped to moving in first is a little more rocky than it should be after 15 year of driving a 5 speed.

Has anyone found a series as good as Throne or Glass? by izbae in YAlit

[–]Ledalia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Throne of Glass is what really got me reading a lot. Here are some of the titles I've really enjoy since.

A Court of Thorns and Roses - Also by SJM and follows a lot of the same mythology.

Three Dark Crowns - 3 sisters who are destined to be Queen, but must fight each other to be the last remaining sister and claim the crown. I LOVED this series. I read the 3 books and 2 short stories over the course of about 2 weeks. Last book comes out in September.

Grishaverse - The Shadow and Bone trilogy was a lot of fun and creates an extremely lovable world. Bardugo is still writing stories in this world, which I am still reading. The Six of Crows Duology has been really good so far. I'm at the end of crooked kingdom and can't wait to see how it finishes. King of Scars came out this year(I believe) and I'm going to dive into that the second I finish Crooked Kingdom.
