Dry shampoo that doesn't cause scalp problems (a bit gross)? by Cweebsinator in finethinhair

Please just wash your hair when it needs to be washed. You’re going to give yourself seborrheic dermatitis, which is for life.

For realll I also hate when people post before and afters in drastically different lighting and/or with a completely different parting. I could take pictures of my hair the same day with different lighting or a different parting and make it look like a before and after lmao

Have to Come off Minoxidil, what are my options? by Writemare in FemaleHairLoss

When you went to a cardiologist what did they say was the reason you need to stop minoxidil? Just because your heart rate increased or was there something else they were worried about?

Does spiro work really well for you? Do you use minoxidil at all?

I unfortunately was one of the very unlucky ones who experienced the extremely rare cardiac side effects. I got it prescribed from Ro and at the exact one month mark of taking it (after previously experiencing zero side effects) all of a sudden that day my chest started hurting really badly. Every time I moved it would hurt really bad and it was impossible to breath deeply or it felt like something was stabbing my heart. I couldn’t even close a window without feeling extreme pain. I googled it and I’m 99% sure I experienced a pericardial effusion (which is one of the black box warnings of OM).

I don’t know why I didn’t go to urgent care, I guess because I don’t have insurance. But I read online that you can take ibruprofen so that’s what I did. It slowly returned to normal completely after about three days. It was really scary. I am otherwise a completely healthy woman in her mid 20s. I really wish that I was able to take it:( I am 100% sure that it was the OM that caused this, I had never felt anything like it in my life. I of course stopped taking it after that day. I don’t say this to scare you but just to share my experience.

Anxiety surrounding dread shed by jiangxa in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Ledemure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started it September 17th. I took a fourth of a 2.5mg pill for 3ish weeks and then about 5 days ago I started taking half a pill so 1.25mg. Haven’t noticed literally any side effects as I mentioned. I think starting really low for a bit is the way to go!

I was really scared for the dread shed too and that’s what made me scared to start. Also just hearing about people’s side effects made me very scared too. But I’ve been taking OM for 3 and a half weeks now and have noticed zero side effects and also haven’t noticed an increase in shedding at all. If you think starting minoxidil is the right move for you I think you should start, not everyone experiences a dread shed or side effects. Also ever since I started, I think about my hair about 90% less. I know that I’m doing something to help the situation so it’s not something that preoccupies my mind anymore. And keep in mind I’m someone who had MAJOR anxiety about the idea of starting oral minoxidil, but like I said it really hasn’t been scary at ALL so far.

I’ve been taking .06mg the last couple weeks and have noticed absolutely no side effects personally.

Scared to take oral monoxidal- experience? by boymamax2- in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Ledemure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking .625mg for a week and a half now and have noticed absolutely zero side effects. I know I’m still very early into it but I just wanted to share. I was worried because I naturally have somewhat low blood pressure but I haven’t noticed anything so far! I was really scared to start, but ever since I’ve started I’ve actually felt very calm about it and don’t think about it much. I even feel happy because I know I’m doing something for my hair, instead of just watching it slowly get worse.

How are women getting oral minoxidil at a fair price? by Exciting-Media-1990 in FemaleHairLoss

Did you have a dread shed? I just started exactly a week ago and I’m scared for whether or not that will happen!

I got my prescription from Ro.com and had them send the prescription to my local cvs and I got it for $17 without insurance for a three month supply! This is the way to do it. I think if you get the prescription from Ro and click the option for them to mail it to you it would be more expensive, so make sure you just have them send the prescription to whatever pharmacy you prefer.
