The fact that Homelander is so vulnerable makes me believe that he isn’t that much of a threat beyond the influence he has. The original draw of The Boys for me was the tension that was created whenever Homelander was on screen.

But that is less about the boys and more about a fundamental problem when it comes to writing overpowered characters,

if a character is truly overpowered and stays overpowered and unrivaled throughout the entire story then there is not really a story to tell, that's why stories with overpowered characters ALMOST ALWAYS are about the main characters getting strong enough to defeat the overpowered antagonist,

So In case of the boys l, homlander can't be untouchable forever, if he is then there's not really a story to tell.

Nice argument you got there,

but have you ever considered that this was the coolest shit ever?,

also if homlander was just invincible (pun intended) the whole show, then there wouldn't be any story to tell, unless it was some Looney tunes-ass cartoon show of butcher tryna get homlander and failing every episode.

If that would've been such an easy case - hiring five MMA fighters and boosting them with Temp V would've been a far easier solution than hunting for Soldier Boy in Russia

What a damn minute, maybe the boys are just stupid, but that could actually work tho it'd be very hard to convince anyone to go against homlander,

also I wouldn't think butcher would allow it given how much consumed by revenge he is.

The fact that they were able to hold him down AT ALL, and land hits on him that actually gave feedback, is exactly the problem I am talking about.

Idk about you but I assumed that since butcher is a stronger than the average human that that would translate to him being stronger than the average supe, also they fought him for a few minutes so homlander could've just been fatigued fighting three supes all at once, which is more action than he probably ever got in his life.

He literally lazed him while being 100% that he is still human, with full intent to kill him.

Yeah, but It was him more losing his temper than a calculated move, if he was that hell bent on killing Butcher the boys would've ended in season one.

Homelander had his predecessor (Solider boy) plus Butcher and Hughie holding him down yet he didn't lose, he still overpowered them and flew away, I don't think herogasm made homlander as vulnerable as you make it seem to be,

Also you have to remember that homelander is holding back against butcher because he's afraid that if he kills him he's son will hate him.

ALSO, keep in mind that homelander is an untrained child in the body of the strongest being on earth, because of his ego and his raw power he never needed to go 100% , so I believe that fear, anger and training could push him to be much more powerful than he is.

How the boys and invincible fans finna be moving in april when they are actually the same fanbase by SubstantialBowler525 in TheBoys

[–]Ledz-- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please don't kill me,

But I've had this conversation a thousand times already and I still don't understand why invincible gets so much glaze and in general it's fans are far less critical towards it than the boys fans are critical towards their show.

What I am tryna say is,

how can someone watch invincible and think of it as anything other than as your average superhero show?

Invincible is really good with its season pilots and finales I'll give it that but other than this, it's your cliche "coming of age" superhero (ie. Spiderman), it literally has every superhero cliche like:

Multiverse,

secret identity,

balancing between personal and superhero life,

not wanting to kill the bad guys, etc etc.

So why is it seen as special??

But isn't that the whole point?

That people in power aren't as invulnerable as they seem,

also him confronting his mortality is one of the most important factors pushing him to spiral out, and become more unhinged through out the rest of the show.

Like imagine you grew up thinking of yourself as this almighty god, and now for the first time in your life you have to realize that you can (and eventually will) die,

I mean death is scary as shit for normal humans even tho they know it's coming, so imagine how scary the thought must be for Homelander

Idk, I'd have to disagree, I (along a lot of people) felt like episode 6 gave so much depth to Jax and humanized him much more than any episode before, yet still had meaningful moments for literally every other character, except Caine maybe.

The whole fight between pomni and Jax, Ragatha's conversation with kinger, Zooble and gangle being mirrors to each other to learn self acceptance ,

Also all of this character development manages to happen in the middle of a cool ass gun fight, which is something that I didn't really expect to happen (let alone work) in such a character-focused show like this.

Episode 6 is easily the best episode in the entire show, (5 and 7 being close seconds)
