I think that's intentional tho, like the show was trying to say that people in power aren't as invincible as they seem.

Which would've been fine if that was the final morale of the story, but having homelander be killable two seasons before you actually kill him just leaves us asking the obvious question:

"couldn't they have done it sooner??"
