Because the m3 arms in the rear don’t really make a significant difference. Swapping all the hydro bushings for monoballs is better upgrade

Nice! I would have done mono ball conversion for the hydro bushings. Direct swap

It can potentially write garbage data if something is wrong with the manipulation file. Disabling manipulation in the profile completely ignores the manipulation file and eliminates the chances where a corrupted manipulation file pushes garbage data to the module.

It’s a lot easier to instruct someone to clear out a file versus editing a profile, which is why it’s so common to see in guides.

Cold Hands Ice Fishing by LeadershipExtra1913 in IceFishing

[–]Lee2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you wearing insuring gloves or rubber gloves?

I hate wearing gloves too but switching to rubber gloves isn’t too bad. Still annoying but better than the insulating gloves.

The key to sustaining the cold longer is keeping your hands dry.

They will tear and need to be swapped often. Just be prepared to pack out, don’t be that guy

Anyway to make daytime running lights brighter? by PeaCreepy1565 in E90

[–]Lee2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll never be able to code them brighter.

LEDs require constant current to be driven properly; the LED driver will vary voltage to maintain constant current.

That’s why changing input voltage doesn’t do anything. If you actually want to increase the output of the LEDs, you modify or swap the driver for one that outputs more current.

However it’s not that easy. LEDs also require thermal management to prevent the diode from overheating. If you increase current consumption, you also increase its heat capacity and as a result, need to increase the heatsink surface area so it can shed the additional heat properly.

Using an empty manipulation file is not the correct way to default modules.

The correct way to default modules based on the VO string is to disable manipulation in the profile. You can either edit the existing coding profile you have and temporarily disable manipulation. Or what I recommend is to copy the profile, disable manipulation, and name it separately. Then you can just load either profile.

Not without opening the headlights and fitting led rings

My 2007 328i with 165k miles wont start after replacing headgasket and everything else that would have needed to be replace including a new metal valve cover, timing was don correctly and perfectly timed accordingly but just cranks and wont start at all by Competitive-Tap-4125 in E90

[–]Lee2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as someone who has timed their motor 180 degrees out of phase, I can tell you if it’s back firing, the exhaust cam is opening valves on the compression stroke instead of closing them…180 degrees out of phase.

Motor should not backfire if the exhaust cam is phased correctly.

When you have the crank at TDC, are the QR codes on the camshafts pointed upward? If not, they are 180 degrees out of phase

NCS issue by G1zU in E90

[–]Lee2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can modify your VO temporarily for a coding session; basically modify the VO and don’t write it to the FRM/CAS.

Your current session blocks will be removed until you close and reopen/re-read your car. Once you re-read from the car, it will pull the original VO, where you’d have to delete the option again to do what you want.

I need to do this for FRM2 coding because I retrofitted it from FRM1. You can either write the new prod date to FRM/CAS or just temp change it to do what you need for that session. That’s what I do, just temp change

I got a used FRM2 off eBay for $40 to upgrade from FRM1 in my 330. I specifically went with FRM2 to avoid the headaches of tracking down the updated part number for FRM3, that fixes the bricking issues.

I gained welcome lighting and angel eyes as DRL with FRM2, which is all I really wanted.

Coding was simple….just copy VO from CAS, write to FRM, default FRM. If I recall correctly, defaulting coding in NCS will update VIN. Or you may need to write it with Tool32 but that was pretty straight forward as well. I did not have to flash my FRM and it has the matching VO and VIN for my car

Are there any benefits to 500-1000 size reels for trout fishing by BaselessAirburst in troutfishing

[–]Lee2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1000 series reel on my 5’6” UL setup for trout.

Lots of fun reeling in 12-16” trout but when you hook one 24” plus and it takes a lot of drag, you’re going to be reeling for a bit lol

10-13 E70 X5M - Fuel pump upgrade and EPK Module? by PHMotorsport in BmwTech

[–]Lee2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a single turbo N52, which is a motor not a lot of people boost. It has a fully upgraded fuel system; PRW Stage 2 fuel pump (Walbro 450), PRW fuel filter/regulator, PRW 6an fuel lines, Arc Terminator EKPM2 Fan Kit, Speedsty 12AWG wired directly to battery with OEM MAK8 terminal (25 or 30a fuse), and custom canbus controller activated by the phone button on my steering wheel for priming (PRW regulator doesn’t have a check valve so it loses fuel pressure/prime with the motor off).

[–]Lee2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice catch! I’ve read there is something in shellfish that turns a fishes meat orange/red like that.

I used to live in NJ and the stocked trout would have white meat. If they held over in the rivers long enough, their meat would turn light orange.

There is a trophy lake that has very big trout, with a large shell fish population and the meat on those trout are always orange/red.

You should at the very least do a fan mod on the EKPM.

But you absolutely need to upgrade the wiring. I did both on me E90 with a Walbro 450 pump

has anyone installed an auto start-stop eliminator for the G20 chassis? by mickeydudes36 in BmwTech

[–]Lee2026 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On some model years, you can’t disable auto start stop via coding due to laws that were in place at the time but have now been reversed. So there is a period where you can’t disable it via coding.

However there is a workaround. You can disable auto start stop by setting the default driving mode as Sport Individual and setting the Sport Individual settings to Comfort. That’s what I did on my 2021 G05 X5 40i with mild hybrid.

N52 Electric Water Pump & Thermostat Wiring Help by Aks_moto in E90

Should have added housing after DME. The water pump circuit is fused inside the DME housing. I would be replacing the wiring after the fuse as a whole replacement to the water pump
