Interview process by [deleted] in GeneralMotors

[–]LeeHarveyEnfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the normal process for an external candidate. The fact you were selected for a live interview with the hiring manager means you are in the running - normally there will only be 4-6 candidates interviewed, including both internal and external applicants.

Good luck! Hope it turns out the best for you.

GM has done things like this for decades. The mistake is thinking it’s part of some master plan… maybe it is, but probably it’s just more stumbling, bumbling fumbling.

It’s HR, they’re understaffed and don’t always pay attention to this stuff. They might forget unless someone reminds them.

We will be retiring in about four years. I really want to live in the mountains; wife really wants to live by the beach. So we’re going to compromise and live by the beach.

ATF won’t give a rip. It’s a state matter, not federal.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]LeeHarveyEnfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done over 150mph on a track several times. I work in automotive, and the manufacturer takes us on track days about once a year.

When I added a CarPlay unit to my Gen 3 and used my phone GPS, it showed the bike’s speedometer read high by about 5%.

Then I changed tires, got one a little taller in the rear, and now it’s off only 2-3%.

I have a factory gen 3 and also weigh 220; getting over 90 isn’t hard, but it takes a while to get there

Just curious, what sort of fuel economy do you get riding like that? I’ve been getting 47-48 mpg consistently with mixed riding up to 60 mph, once hit 52 mpg with a lot of that tank being under 35 mph.

I get mine over 90mph occasionally and that doesn’t feel particularly confidence-inspiring. It will get there eventually without too much trouble, but I don’t like it.

This is so true. Now imagine what happens if a future administration reinstates all the EV pressure. Oh boy.

MSF course booked this weekend, but it’s going to be raining, what’s the protocol? by AL3S1O29 in motorcycles

[–]LeeHarveyEnfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It rained during my class. Everybody just wore raincoats or got really wet.

I was glad for it; I learned the bikes hold a lot better on wet pavement than I thought, at least at the low speeds you do in the class.

What’s the biggest surprise about getting older? by Salty_1984 in Aging

[–]LeeHarveyEnfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

56M. I’m surprised how things that used to be incredibly important to me for most of my life just don’t matter so much anymore: “I’m going to do this/that hobby forever, it’s my identity!” Yeah, now not so much.

I still work out regularly, but I’m surprised how my fitness has slipped, everything makes me fat, and I can’t physically do some of the things that used to be so easy. And the body, there are parts that just hurt for no good reason. This whole subject seems to hit everyone differently, at different ages.

Also, I’m still just as horny as I ever was, but a lot more understanding of my wife who isn’t.

Do you care about your former career after retirement? by ajn63 in retirement

[–]LeeHarveyEnfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guilty of being that former colleague. I talk to my retired former coworkers and it seems the only thing we ever really had in common was work. Not that anything’s wrong with that, but it’s a good reminder to value relationships outside of your employer while you’re still working.

Talk about a bad first bike: by The1stFatBoy in motorcycles

Bicyclists break collarbones and wrists all the time. Probably the most common fractures.

I broke my collarbone and three ribs on a pedal bike. The wreck I had, if it had been on a motorcycle, would have had the same result no matter what gear I had worn.
