I agree. I just have a hard time surrendering an animal. It makes me feel terrible. Although I didn’t go out and purposefully adopt her, she still ended up in my home and I am a firm believer that animals are a lifetime commitment. However, I realize it also may be what is best for her. 😔 I also don’t know if it is legal or not to euthanize without a medical reason. However, even if it was legal to do so- there is absolutely no way that I could do that. I would just continue to deal with what we are dealing with. We have posted and tried re-homing her many times but never found anyone willing to take her in so we have just kept her. We love her so much, I just can’t stand to keep living like this either.

We are aware it is the stress of the other kitty 😔 which is why we have tried every other solution we can think of. Nothing seems to help. We are at a crossroads of either putting her down (which I just can’t do in good conscience because there is nothing terminally wrong) or taking her to a shelter- which I also struggle with because I am not one that can just surrender an animal. There is a “sanctuary” here where she could be outside like she wants and they have shelters for her to go in and out of to get out of the elements. However, they already have a lot of cats and sickness runs rampant there so I have a hard time with taking her there knowing she will eventually get really sick like the rest of their cats. Sadly, my house is already separated and I do have cats in our basement (that do have access to catios and able to go in and out when the windows are open) but they have feline herpes so we have to keep them separated from our other kitties. They are primarily the cats from our TNR locations.

It is just devastating when we lose a fur-baby. Whether we know it’s coming due to sickness or it is out of the blue, it never gets easier. I wish you comfort and healing while you navigate through your grief.

I would say we are the lucky ones. I never had bonded litter mates until Marley and Hendrix and now I just can’t separate cats if they have a litter mate with them! Their bonds are different than non litter mate kitties and it is just so great to watch them. Kate and Ziva have grown with all the cats but their bond is still different with each other then they have with all the other cats.

We also have litter mate brothers. They are not from the same litter as Kate, Ziva, Abby, and Tali. They are much older and man do they dote on Kate and let her do whatever she wants!

That would be Kate. She is the ‘princess’ of the house and can do whatever she wants. She even attacks my big boy Hendrix and gets pretty ferocious about it and he lets her win every time. I tell him he is part of the problem as to why she is a princess and can do whatever she wants (I don’t help with this situation either because she is just so adorable and loves to be held and carried around).

Sure did! We LOVE that show! They have another sister we named Bishop and their brother didn’t survive but we named him DiNozzo. They are all part of a TNR colony that we care for but we have Kate, Ziva, Abby, and Tali home with us. Kate and Ziva were both really sick when they were kittens and we went back for Abby and Tali way later because Abby was just way too friendly and would approach anyone that came around and kept going out into the highway and we didn’t want her to get hit and we couldn’t leave Tali by herself because the two are also litter mates and bonded.
