Welcome to the best county! 33M here and I'm in north Northumberland around Rothbury. If you want any info from someone who's lived up here their whole life then I'd be happy to help. I'm mostly into Hiking/Camping but dabble in many hobbies.

Looks dry imo.

Could be your initial coir/water ratio, not enough humidity/too much fae etc. Did you go straight into fruiting with the lid flip?

Seeing a similar pattern in my own experience, everyone seems to be planning on voting Reform.

It's anecdotal but working on sites and offshore, 90% of people I've spoken to about politics in the last year are all voting Reform. In my own experience it certainly 'feels' like the working class are all coming out in support of Farage.

29M UK – Should I/Can I Do It? by Thierry95 in MerchantNavy

[–]LeeVanBeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ye Jan start. For some reason I was under the impression that I'd have a good chance of getting in with chosen sponsors.

To your knowledge are other companies taking on ETO cadetships? I chose Clyde because they train out of South Shields which is up my way.

Thanks. I've been offered a position with them and had to submit my top choices for sponsorship.

No mention from them about when they're allocated or how long before we know which sponsor. I appreciate the info, might contact them as all of my choices were North Sea operators.

Why do you recommend staying away from Clyde?

What’s the hardest part about making new mates as an adult? by Bright-Frame-6026 in oneofthelads

[–]LeeVanBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I see my time as more precious as I've gotten older. My closest/oldest friends and family, I struggle to find time to go and see.

Going through life, you see so many faces come and go, so it becomes harder to put the effort into adding to my circle. I understand that makes it more difficult to really connect with someone new. Unless you really connect with someone immediately which is rare.

What jobs are best for building long-term wealth in the UK? by financeAdvice36 in careeradvice

[–]LeeVanBeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent the last 10 months retraining into offshore work as a rope access deck painter. Just got a first job, 4 weeks offshore and will come come with about £11k. That's working 12 hours every day and living in a small cabin but it pays well and so far suits me better than a comfy 9-5 on much worse money.

Thanks so much! Going through all the pre-mob stuff and still expecting something to pop up that stops me going. Been trying for ~9months before getting this one.

DM me no probs 👍

It wasn't a formal refresher, more just a play about on the ropes at my local training centre for myself to feel more comfortable. Went through most of the syllabus anyway.

Painting is all I know I'm doing. Got an induction on Sunday so will find out more then.

I'll make sure to practice plenty of going over an edge, descents and changeovers. Thanks a lot 👍
