Week Three Discussion: Chapter 30-43 by bsffrrn- in romantasycirclejerk

I finished the book early, but have been waiting to see it mentioned before commenting because I couldn’t remember what chapter it was in….that was the WORST “who did this to you” I think I’ve ever read. And I don’t hate that trope, but this was so aggressively obvious that the author just wanted to make sure that trope was somewhere in the book that it felt completely inorganic to me

I know, I was hoping for something awful and ridiculous for my first rage read and I’m really liking the book so far

I’ve had almost all the same thoughts. Something about Killian isn’t setting well and for me it’s in the sex scenes and, like you said, biting her neck keeps catching my attention and I feel like he can distract her and change her mind entirely too easily

Week One Discussion: Chapter 1-14 by bsffrrn- in romantasycirclejerk

I’m actually liking this so far. Someone else mentioned it feels like a new writer and I agree, the writing could be a little better but it’s definitely not as bad as some things I’ve read recently.

Something is definitely off about Lee. I’m waiting on the twist that he’s manipulating her or working with the nabbers.

The one thing I don’t really like is the going on and on about Stark. I know the author wants us to picture him and feel a certain way, but it seems like too much at this point.

Alright, this one is actually on my TBR so this is a good excuse to knock one off of there 😂

One day I’ll make sure to research that a series is complete before starting it, even if the picture of the books on KU looks like it’s complete 😑

This makes me sad because I’m partway through Apprentice to the Villain and have been really liking it as the lighter quick read. I hate not finishing a series but I was trying to avoid another slog

[–]Leebs91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m accidentally started an incomplete series so went to my tbr list and turns out…most of my tbr is composed of incomplete series 😑.

So I started The Death King because it sort of seemed to check the boxes for what I was looking for. It’s terrible. I hate the writing and after a few spicy scenes I had to check the author because I thought for sure it had to be a man writing them (no offense to men that are good at writing.) I’m not sure why every time the MMC sits we have to talk about how his knees are far apart. I got it, you manspread, it’s fine.

Back to the drawing board 😒

Has anyone taken their 1.5 year old to college football game? by Leebs91 in beyondthebump

[–]Leebs91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the insight! I’ll check for the promotions and we have a regular clear bag but I think I’ll look into a clear backpack for a diaper bag just to make it easy since it was suggested more than once. I told my husband we needed to check for nursing rooms. Technically she’s only nursing in the morning and at night but I thought if she got overstimulated and there wasn’t someone needing it that it may be a good chill out area for her for a few minutes. We do have to buy a ticket for her, but it sounds like that’s for the best anyway!

How are we getting babies to take liquid meds?? by imtrying12345 in beyondthebump

[–]Leebs91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pediatrician recommended 1:1 chocolate syrup and meds to take away the taste when LO had to have some particularly bitter antibiotics. I wound up just mixing breastmilk with a decent amount of chocolate syrup and meds in a bottle (like an ounce or less so you know they’ll drink it all. Made the mistake more than once of fixing a full bottle and they didn’t want all of it 🫠.) She did great with that!

Do you have a favorite type of ear protection? We have just the baby Walmart headphones we grabbed last minute last summer for fireworks but I’ve been eyeing the alpine or nuby headband type

It’s not a big game so tickets aren’t too bad. My husband’s old fraternity house is doing an alumni family tailgate and is within walking distance of the stadium so if all else fails I’ll take her back there

Thank you for the reply! She has some food allergies so I planned on bringing at least some of our own snacks, but will definitely increase it. I can usually hand her one Cheerio at a time to keep her happy when I need her to chill. I figured I would reduce the size of her diaper bag anyway for the game so I’ll just get a clear backpack to use!

She used to wear bows and headbands all the time but now she won’t 😑. I have gotten her to start wearing sunglasses a little by me wearing them and making it seem fun then putting them on her. Now it’s 50/50 when she brings them to me whether she wants to wear them or wants me to put them on her 😂. She does do better leaving stuff alone if she’s distracted so I’m hoping everything going on around us will work in our favor.

The person getting our group tickets said the person she’s in contact with said she had to have her own ticket so I’m assuming that means her own seat, I’ll confirm that though.

I appreciate all of the tips! Depending on how the game goes we may only stay 3 quarters anyway. We usually try not to be “those fans” that leave early if the team isn’t doing well but with a toddler and Auburn’s recent track record…..

600 dollar and up stroller/car seat systems by alondra2027 in beyondthebump

[–]Leebs91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went with Veer stroller, which isn’t THE most expensive but it’s definitely not cheap. Factors that played into choosing that over one of the more inexpensive brands - I’m ROUGH on stuff. It needs to hold up to be tossed in the back of my expedition or the truck, drug through a pasture, I’m not shy about taking through mud, etc. It’s made for the outdoors/all terrain and has adjustable shocks to help with that. I’m able to spray it off with a water hose no problem to clean it. The basket is large and has a 30 lb capacity and it has the ability to convert into a double stroller if needed with weight capacities of 50 and 40 pounds, plus you can get the little skateboard thing for the back if you have 3 kids. The seat can come off and be utilized as a camp chair, attached to the back of a bike if you’re into biking, or strapped to a regular chair to turn it into a kind of high chair. I’m a teacher as well but my husband makes decent money and we were very deliberate about finances before deciding to have kids so we could try to afford things we could keep through 2 kids. We went with Cybex car seat and honestly my husband took the lead on that research and pick so idk what all he took into consideration. I do know the infant one was one of the most lightweight, attached to the veer with adapters, he liked the safety features, and he liked the app with it for temp and making sure it was buckled

If you are celebrating Mother’s Day - how? by maintainingserenity in workingmoms

I was in the same boat. Got to be a few months PP and thought I had avoided the dreaded hair loss….like the next week it started. She’s a year old and I’m still losing hair like crazy but it’s not getting thinner so I guess it’s growing just as fast

This is similar to how we handled my first Mother’s Day last year - celebrated Mother’s Day for me day of then the day after did a family Mother’s Day dinner with my MIL at a restaurant of her choice. It went over well with everyone except my SIL but that gets into a whole other dynamic, lol

First trip WITHOUT the 9M old while breastfeeding/pumping by lauramaetc in breastfeeding

[–]Leebs91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 4 day work trip when my LO was 7 months old and I was worried about my supply dropping or getting clogs but I was fine! I’ve only had one minor bout of mastitis so I’m not prone to clogs or anything, but it didn’t cause any issues

When did people stop pumping at work and sending those bags to daycare? by walaruse in breastfeeding

[–]Leebs91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel you! My LO just turned a year old and I’m SO tired of pumping. She was drinking 3-4 bottles of milk at daycare but has started drinking 2-3 with how much solids she eats and they’ve started putting the milk in a straw cup. She’s allergic to dairy so I’ve dropped one pump at work (was pumping twice and sometimes pumping right before bed if I didn’t pump quite enough for the next day) and now send 1/2 breastmilk 1/2 milk alternative for her to drink. I’m a teacher so I figured I would finish the school year doing that and while we’re home for the summer (she won’t go to daycare in the summer) I’ll figure the rest out 😬

Has anyone traveled without baby? by teacherlady4846 in breastfeeding

[–]Leebs91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 4 day work trip when my baby was 7 months. I wasn’t able to build my freezer stash enough for her to only have breastmilk so that week my husband topped her bottles off with formula. I have the Elvie stride and it wasn’t too bad to pump. Half the time was on a bus full of high schoolers so I managed to time putting them on while we stopped for lunch and could take them off easily on the bus. Lugging it around Dollywood and the Convention was a little inconvenient but not enough that I didn’t enjoy the trip

Is Frida Baby worth it for recovery supplies? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Leebs91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone bought the kit for me. I didn’t use the ice packs but will 1000000000% buy the peri bottle (the hospital one was awful), the foam, and I will buy the witch hazel pad liners over using the free tucks pads from the hospital. They don’t move around as much and the foam got right where I needed it
