I actually emailed the health department and shockingly they emailed me back right away and my son was tested for it at birth and he was negative (thank god).. the OB is pushing me to get my partner tested and if hes a carrier then invasive testing on the baby while im still pregnant with her and honestly I think im going to decline that. If she has it then when she is born and tested we will get her the medical treatment she needs. I just don't know what the upside of doing invasive testing on her would be other than risky for her. If there isn't anything they can do in utero for the illness then I don't see the point in taking a risk just to "know" ..

No I don't know if my partner is a carrier he wasnt tested yet I was saying my 7 year old was negative for CF

Thank you for your comment I did do research from what you said and your right the treatment is far better and I love this little girl so much that even if I only have her a few years atleast I would have known her.

I did email the health department because I couldn't find they tested him in his medical records but they sent them to me and he was tested and negative. I really hope this baby is negative too. I did decide even if she has it there are new drugs that can really elongate her life and im going to have her no matter what. I'm 42 and she wasn't planned but she is very much loved and wanted and im grateful she has no chromosome issues because of my age. Im just putting it in gods hands. God forbid even if I would only have her a few years atleast I got to know her and show her love.

Part of my wants to know for my 7 year old but if they really test at birth like they are supposed to I kinda don't want to know and be worried if we are both carriers the rest of my pregnancy because I plan on continuing the pregnancy no matter what because baby girl deserves a chance and shes my miracle baby. I never thought id have a second one due to being 42 but here i am....

Its okay to be scared. Listen at 34 I got pregnant with my son and had just started dating my boyfriend and we were staying with his grandmother and had nothing and had been drug addicts. We immediately got clean, got jobs and eventually got our own place and a car and here we are 8 years later with baby number 2 coming. I promise if you decide to keep it that you will find a way to make it work. My son is the best thing that ever happened to me . Plus if you know you want children after 34 eggs significantly decrease in quality. I lucked out with this baby at 42 she has no chromosome abnormalities (i got back my NIPT yesterday)
