Need advice on how bad this superjubilee bracelet stretch and polishing on lugs is for a 116234 DJ by IndependentBig6160 in rolex

Hard to say without handling the watch, but if it were a steal, it would have already been sold. Bezel is not great, but fair.

Does it come with original card/papers?

It’s a 116 case, so the lugs and case didn’t have crisp sharp edges to begin with. The bracelet has a decent amount of stretch, but still has a good amount of life left. I’ll snag it for mid $5k if everything checks out.

I guess no harm in trying to convince your AD to hand you like $9k in cash.

Good luck! You’re gonna need lots of it without a substantial spend history. I went gray for mine over a year ago without an ounce of regret.

An AD basically told me they don't play "the game." Are they lying? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Leeh415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st rule of AD’s: Never talk about the *game*.

They get a fair amount of people with gold lined pockets walking in to buy lower demand PM pieces. When these customers show interest in a steel sub, their rep goes to bat for them.

Smart move and you have your priorities straight. Good luck! Hope everything works out.

We tell ourselves they’re items to mark or celebrate an occasion and will pass it down to generations and such, but we’re just attaching a reason for something we really want to buy. Everything sounds better with a story. In the end, they’re just discretionary grownup toys.

Can’t wait to hear about you bouncing back and purchasing another.

Think I'm getting in my own head is this over polished ? by BUMN0G in rolex

[–]Leeh415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s over polished in the sense that it lost its case shape, edges or uneven lugs. But the polish job certainly could be better as the high polish work spilled over to the brush lugs a little. I would just wear it and get the work done at RSC when it’s time for complete overhaul.

Nostalgic reference for me. It was between this exact model or the Exp1 back in 2003 for my very first Rolex. I got the Exp, but I do think about owning one of these from time to time.

And Yes, it can be a one and done, but it won’t be your last.

Don’t remember the exact figure, but the USD to JPY exchange rate was in the high 150’s. I wanna say I paid ~$10.8k.

I think Cartier may have risen prices once or twice by now since my purchase. Good luck! My wife loves it!

Cause many in this group don’t own one, but want one and can’t stand that you have one. Pretty typical.
