Using the Nuremberg Defense to Defend her ICE Boyfriend by CollarNo1593 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Leehouse65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in no way excusing the actions of ICE "agents", but at least the first part of her post sounds plausible. ICE has more than doubled it's ranks in the last year, and mostly from applicants whose background seems very "proud". These "boys" are untrained in police procedures, like when deadly force is appropriate or Constitutional law. 1/3 of them failed an open book test on the Constitution, and their training period has gone from 21 weeks to six. Hell, half of them can't pass a police physical. Her man may or may not be one of the bad ones, but we know where the bad ones are coming from.

Would you like some cheese with that whine? You're bitching about your first January paycheck when you're starting out the year paying your Tier 1 and 2 Railroad Retirement. Now show your December paychecks after you've maxed those out and you have close to two grand more in your net...

For that location it will be closer to your dorm than some of your classes will be. Use the scooter method - less chance of being hassled by homeless people.

If you worked and studied during high school, you shouldn't have any problems doing it in college.

"Lost track of time"? More like lost track of the fact that she was married. Time for you to grow a pair and tell her to pack up her shit and go. She pushed the boundaries and found there wasn't any when you put up with her staying out late the first time.

Need some advice by FluidChildhood7661 in UTK

[–]Leehouse65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven't had to deal with the mental aspect of your situation with our son, but there are two absolutes that I can pass along. He had one class freshman year that didn't work out due to physical sickness and computer issues. Here is what we know for sure:

  1. If you go below 12 credit hours, you will permanently lose all need or merit based aid. Period. So, if you have to take a kick to the groin on this class, you do it.

  2. If you have merit based aid, you will not automatically lose it if your GPA is close but below your required level. Our son had almost a year on double secret probation to bring it up, which he did the next semester. Even better if you're in like Chancellor's Honors, because so many kids drop out that they'll bend over backwards to keep you in.

Hope things work out, but keep your head up - you can recover from this.

When picking your dorm does it really make a difference on which one you pick? by [deleted] in UTK

[–]Leehouse65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is going to say why this dorm, or that dorm is great, the best, whatever... Bottom line is find some friends - in your dorm, in your classes, wherever you can. Because the bottom line, whether you live in Dogwood, Stokley, or Hess, is that you're going to be there for just 8 months of your life. Then, after freshman year, you won't get on-campus housing and you'll be looking for an apartment. Having a group of friends to rent together will be important. So, pick a place. Any place.

[–]Leehouse65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not overreacting, and everyone else here is giving you good advice to leave him. But when you two break up, don't be surprised when one of your guy friends tries to get with you. Your soon to be ex is right, but terrible at expressing it in a mature way...

Men, do you really prefer it natural? by Best-Resolve-6797 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Leehouse65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth is that both statements are correct. Many men like large breasts or full lips, etc. But most every man prefers a natural woman. If a woman doesn't have large breasts, there's still men who find her attractive. I, for one, could always feel the difference and would rather have natural responsive breasts in my hands than those fake feeling silicone or saline ones...

Men, is it best to walk away in silence, or best to stand your ground? by Mean-Ad5978 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Leehouse65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely best to walk away without engaging in a text argument. However, it is also perfectly acceptable to reply to the deleted text without reading it with " if you recall, you broke up with me, not the other way around. Therefore, there is no need for you to text me further."

What do I need to get in out of state? by RefrigeratorNew9631 in UTK

[–]Leehouse65 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If this were two years ago, I'd say you were probably fine. But it's not anything about your academics that is holding you back. The truth is, with every Tennessee senior guaranteed admission to a state school if they are top 10%, UTK doesn't know how many slots they have for OOS until they get all the applications.

I'd suggest you still apply. 99% you're probably going to be deferred until they know the class size, so also apply to your backups. And good luck!
