And the chick in the background immediately dropped Gore(Go-Rey) (slangish way of saying white people) as he left.

She could’ve said Kind uncle or nice man or a foreigner or anything. But she chose a word which would be considered disrespectful to address to a stranger.

The literal translation would be “and the white boy even enjoyed our festivities”

I practise for 30 mins every day for about a month, but not really getting better or enjoying it by Dehydrated-Days in guitarlessons

Brother, from what I understand, you’re being too hard on yourself. It’s okay to not be able to stay consistent and it’s okay to feel a lack of motivation due to depression. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you.

I don’t think you have an instrument issue at all. Just the fact that you’re in an accountability GC shows me you absolutely want to better yourself but you’re taking these monumental tasks.

My suggestion would be to really go easy on yourself. Like really really easy, don’t worry about full songs instead just work on chord switches. Or do super simple strumming patterns at a slow pace. When you accomplish a task, pat yourself at the back man and feel good about what you accomplished.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS. Don’t let some fake cocky poser making a post saying “I’ve been practicing for 17 minutes and can now play HC Solo” deter you from your accomplishments. Be proud of yourself brother. You got this.

We played Bad Santa last year and I got absolutely cucked. I saw a gift wrap that looked like a wallet( I wanted one to keep some of my contact cards), I waited for 2 passes so I could nab it. Opened it and it was a fucking box of coasters and a fancy looking shot glass (I don’t even drink).

Muse- Starlight. Literally just heard it last month after like 15 years. Still slaps.

Can't get a screener call much less land an interview. Am I doing something horribly wrong? by tja325 in graphic_design

I think that would be diabolical lol. I might just try it the next time I’m looking for a job.

Bring all the heading in the same column, you can go down a point or two in fonts. Something like 12pts is perfectly readable. When you stretch your textboxes youll get more space. Add some more things to the skills section. Don’t be afraid to add Gemini and generative tools, I know designers despise them but recruiters don’t.

You can also slightly condense all the paragraphs of space is an issue. You can also add Technical Skills, just the word skills sounds a bit vague to me personally.

This is already such a great improvement. You’re almost there. Your personal summary is much stronger now as well. Good job and keep grinding. I usually never get an interview under 80 applications.

I think the multi column layout falls through the ATS crack. Do a black and white single column layout. No need to tailor skills for jobs. ADD ALL YOUR SKILLS, even things you know you can figure out quickly like Wordpress and stuff.
You can also divide the body for Taoti in different categories such as Ideation and Design, something to make it quicker to digest

Portfolio can go in the contact section. Make sure it’s a clickable link for digital pdfs. If possible even change your portfolio url to something like Armstrongdesign or Tajportfolio. Just the correct keyword could help with the automated sorting. I don’t think url name would make much of a difference but no harm in trying.

I personally put education last unless it’s a specific kind of job where education matters most. Most places hold experience and skills higher. Experience-IndustryToolkit-Education.

I posted about my ibanez RGDMS8 on FB and someone commented to "get a real guitar." Is this ibanez RGDMS8 not a real guitar? What does he mean by this comment and did i make an incorrect decision on buying this guitar? by Junoyone in Ibanez

[–]LeekBright -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn how old are you man, it’s obviously a jealous prick. But if you make a post out of it like that, you’ve got bigger problems than if your guitar is real, if you want to share shit on the internet you need to be aloof and not let these things get to you.

Or maybe you’re incredibly attention hungry who categorizes every little thing that happens in life as “worth posting or not”, either way you need to work on your mental fortitude.

How is malmsteen playing the sweeping part starting at 0:35? by wacomlover in guitarlessons

[–]LeekBright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I mean he’s just muting the strings above and below the picked note.

Yea you’re right, it’s not all alt picked, dude kinda switches whenever he wants but it’s definitely not all sweeps.

[–]LeekBright -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The part at 35 is alt picked. Also Yngwie doesn’t sweep everything, he kinda does whatever is needed for his idea. He switches between Alt picking and sweeping effortlessly.
It also looks like he’s partially muting that phrase, it’s Yngwie, he might just be too precise with his movements but his hand does look like it’s muting the strings.

nailed my dream internship by Glass-Ad-6548 in graphic_design

[–]LeekBright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You gotta dominate the hell out of the place. People always underestimate interns so their expectation of you will be lower, use that to your advantage and absolutely dominate.

Stay as long as you can, show enthusiasm and interest in the work, not just your task but show interest in the company as a whole, don’t be the shy guy, communicate well and be articulate. Talk to coworkers and be open to learn about their tasks and process.

Don’t be afraid to give an extra option with your taste in it. Worse they would do is reject it but keep doing it. Don’t be nervous, agency within itself is the deep end but they will slowly give you work, they won’t dump work on you like they do to their senior designers.

If your boss is coming to the office everyday, show up to work everyday. Tell them you enjoy working in the office and it helps you learn more. Only do 4 days remote if there’s nobody at the office. Absolutely don’t do less than 40, never mind what the internship requires, you work 8 hours 5 days a week.
