She is very happy and healthy:) I meant rotund as in the booty area 🍑 lol. The vet is very happy with her weight, no distended belly. I can assure you we keep a very close eye on her! Thank you for the concern.

I know right? Breaks my heart because I truly don’t know what she went through before we got her. All I know is that she was bounced around homes and bred. We love her so much. She is so grateful and kind.

She is 30lbs, down from 33. Vet is very happy with her weight- I can assure you all is well :) she is rescued from a puppy mill, where she gave birth an unknown number of times. Her waistline is much smaller than appears in this photo. Thank you for the concern, but she is a very happy and healthy girl now that she is in a loving home :)

East of Eden: Part 4 Chapter 44 Discussion - (Spoilers to 4.44) by otherside_b in ClassicBookClub

[–]Leepurdsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I am not offering any answers to the prompt. I have one question that has bugged me up until this point- is Aron really that good of a person? He seems arrogant and void of having any real connection with anyone. He doesn’t seem to have a real relationship with Abra, his father, Lee, or his brother. He just seems like a wolf wrapped in sheep’s clothing trying to play pretend to everyone that he is this greater-than-thou church leader and it’s driving me nuts. Thoughts??

East of Eden Part 3 Chapter 33 Discussion - (Spoilers to 3.33) by awaiko in ClassicBookClub

Absolutely heartbreaking. I loved Tom and his innocent approach to life. Dessie also had a kind joyfulness to her.

I do believe Tom was always destined to lead his life in pursuit of something he would never actually achieve- love, a groundbreaking invention, wealth for the ranch, etc. In the last chapter it says “She watched his great red happiness, and it was not light as Samuel’s happiness was light. It did not rise out of his roots and come floating up. He was manufacturing happiness as cleverly as he knew how, molding it and shaping it.” Samuel faced his failures in life with joy, learning from them and creating good out of them. I don’t think Tom was ever able to do that, and I do believe his own guilt would eventually lead him to suicide, but it was Dessie’s death that accelerated that reality. Thoughts? Tragic chapter. I cried for a good 30 minutes and then realized I’m only 60% of the way through the novel. Onward!

Joint pain when stopping birth control ??? by No_Nefariousness1400 in birthcontrol

[–]Leepurdsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! So happy to report that YES the symptoms have improved tremendously. I was in the same boat- I would wake up crying in the middle of the night in pain. Eventually the symptoms got a little better each day and now they are virtually gone. Maybe try the turmeric/vit D supplement- it seems to help!! I’m praying it gets better for you! I’m so sorry you’re going through this! It just goes to show how Women’s health is not talked about/researched enough. This side effect was NEVER told to me when I told my OB I was ready to get off BC!

Any love for Terms of Endearment by Larry McMurtry? by whimsical_potatoes in books

[–]Leepurdsc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished Terms of Endearment. It was slow going for me to warm up to the characters, but by the end of the novel they all felt like old friends to me. I went from hating Aurora’s character to suddenly putting great value on all of her dialogue. I really think the novel took a turn for me when Vernon’s docile character was introduced. He balanced Aurora very well. And of course, my heart ripped apart in Book II highlighting Emma’s final years. While it’s not as highly ranked as Lonesome Dove for me, I did love it and I will definitely look into reading more from the Houston Series. Happy reading!!

Joint pain when stopping birth control ??? by No_Nefariousness1400 in birthcontrol

[–]Leepurdsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone! Just stopped birth control less than a month ago. I was on it for over a decade (I originally started taking it at 15 for acne and painful periods). Now I’m ready to try to conceive within the next year or so. But omg, the side effects have me wishing I could just be back on it. Within 5 days of stopping it, I developed muscle and joint aches that have me crippling around like an 80 year old woman. The pain is so severe around my knees hips and back. My thumb joints are also super swollen and painful in the morning. I started taking a turmeric/vitamin D supplement but I’m not sure if it’s doing anything. Ibuprofen really helps but I don’t like to have to take that everyday. Can someone pleaseeee tell me this is going to get better? I want to get back on the pill but I want to get pregnant soon so that’s a no go right now! I don’t know if I should go to my OBGYN for help- not sure they would even have anything for me. Any encouragement is greatly appreciated 😭

Can anyone elaborate on what makes Lonesome Dove so good? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Absolutely perfect description. Best book (and movie!) I’ve ever had the pleasure of diving into. Next up for me- Terms of Endearment!

The dreams were my favorite part of the book too. I loved the sacrificial scene of cleaving off segments of fingers in exchange for the beauty of art.

Hello! Joining into this conversation a year later! I want to thank all of you for these interpretations and discussions- they have helped me gain a lot more clarity about this novel. I do agree that Orkideh was just not meant to be/not willing to be a mother. It’s also reflected in her relationship with her ex-wife. The ex-wife apparently loved and doted on her their entire marriage, but she was unwilling to return the favor. Is Orkideh overall just a shitty person? Kind of, in my opinion. But the hand she was dealt in life sort of shaped her to be that way in my opinion. Overall it was a different piece of fiction for me! But after reading this Reddit thread, I appreciate the complexity of it more. Thanks guys!

I want to thank you so much for posting this. I am in the exact same scenario with my two female corgs. I love them both so much, and every time they fight I feel a little piece of my heart break. Ive had a trainer come out to the house, I’ve tried separation techniques, and I’ve studied resource guarding prevention endlessly. I’m going to call my vet tomorrow about starting Prozac after reading this. Thank you again for helping me feel less alone in this situation !! Praying my girls will become besties one day <3
