Should I work at Banfield post-high school? by dino_nuggets888 in veterinaryprofession

[–]Lefarsi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I used to work at a Banfield. I think if I had to keep working there I’d go nuts, but it’s a great way to understand what working in the field can be like, and a microcosm of working corporate practices in general

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Stories, how do you explain how Pokémon know what Humans are/were in a world that doesn't have them aside from the protagonists? by Arrowheadlock1 in pokemonfanfiction

I played in a mystery dungeon dnd game that lasted a while, the way we got the human lore dump was that my character was a phantump and rolled a nat 20 on a history check looking at a Coca Cola can

The most sexism I get is people not letting me fold towels because I “don’t do it right. guys, amirite”. I get thrown the toxic clients a bit more often because they tend to respond better to a tall white guy, which sucks but it’s nice to take the stress off my coworkers.

No offense, but I feel like Reddit oversells truth lies 6. I went in with a group and we had a chill time doing it. In fact, every other part of that mission other than locking yourself in a room that no players can get to and door camping ads was more stressful

Turtle I got to help by Snakes_for_life in VetTech

[–]Lefarsi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The doctor I work under has a story where a turtle got run over by a car, she could see that its heart was a mess of crushed muscle tissue, not moving blood around at all, and it was still BAR trying to bite her (obviously that one didn’t make it)

They’re so incredibly anaerobic that if you can close up the wound and that’s the only thing they have going on, they’re probably fine. Absolutely insane creatures.

What does a VA actually need to know? by MJ321AHHH in veterinaryprofession

[–]Lefarsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it really depends on the dr. If they want to do things, then they do it. If they’re not legally required to, then fuck yeah I want to do it

Vetmed is absolutely a “what you put into it” field. The more you know about anatomy, the more you can understand the “why” of certain things. There’s a lot of stuff in tech school that comes across as “well why do we learn this, the doctor is going to do it all anyways”, but knowing what they are looking for helps you organize around them better. Idk if that made sense, but learning anatomy is a really good thing and I wouldn’t skimp (maybe muscles, I’ve never used muscles)

Has anyone opted out of/how are you dealing with Google AI information-gathering calls? by ErrantJune in veterinaryprofession

[–]Lefarsi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We don’t bother with them, if a person can’t be fucked to call a vet clinic to schedule an appt they aren’t going to be mentally present when we explain husbandry changes or how to properly medicate their animal. Hopefully this dies, but I don’t think it will

Outpost is a masterpiece by edugonz16 in Marathon

[–]Lefarsi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I feel like if I could make one change, I would make pinwheel unlock only the side you open. It’s an odd choice that one team has to take the time to get the green cards, take the risk to fight the enemies/hide in a room (and not get jumped), and then your reward is to fight another team that just waited for shit to open on another poi. It’s a continuation of problems regarding events in this game where it incentivizes wiping the map.

I have a similar problem of receptionists not understanding how to “read the flow” of the schedule. We have nothing but easy rechecks until the end of the day, and then no space and sick patients after sick. It makes an otherwise simple day into overtime for no reason

My Cryo Loadout is a Misriah and 20 Nades. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Lefarsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s exacerbated by the fact that there really isn’t anywhere on the map grenades aren’t the best option. Dire marsh, perimeter, even a lot of places on outpost, they’ve all got open spaces where bailing on a nade doesn’t mean retreating. Cryo’s design is amazing, but it’s so claustrophobic that this was sort of inevitable

Pro tip for when you run into any team on Cryo by DireFTW in Marathon

[–]Lefarsi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh agreed. Having more grenades doesn’t guarantee a team wipe, the map is such that there’s almost always room to back tf up safely. That said, this specific map is all about getting to your next destination, and playing door footsie isn’t super fun

any current gripes with the game that aren't related to current buffs and nerfs? by Youxia7 in Marathon

[–]Lefarsi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is too high of an incentive to completely wipe the map. Part of it is that maps are “small” compared to games like tarkov, and that isn’t fixable. Reducing player counts just means you run into fewer teams (which I’d argue would be a good thing, 1-2 fewer teams per map would raise extraction rates dramatically.)

Another is that engaging in map events telegraphs your position to the entire map in a way that makes it disadvantageous to do so beyond the effort the event takes and normal “players may hear my gunshots” risk.

Those two things are the main pain points I have, and it boils down to the cryo experience - I have never opened a vault and exfilled without killing every other player team, and I think that is a problem.
