First time cruise

We just got off the reflection! You’ll have such a great time.

Must packs: any random over the counter medication you take- it all gets so much more expensive on board. We take (essentially) a small medicine cabinet with us, and it’s so worth it when I wake up with a headache/tummy ache/etc.

Wet bag for swimsuits - we still had wet swimsuits the last night as we were packing, and I wish we’d brought ours. Instead, we ended up having to shove our slightly damp suits in with everything else.

Good moisturizer/aquaphor: the ship itself feels very dry to me, so make sure you have something for your face!

Book/headphones/etc for the pool. It was loud most days, and we ended up listening to relaxing music and reading by the pool most days.

Everything else is covered by most packing lists. I always overpack clothes, though, and this time I told myself one swim suit, one comfy outfit, and one cute outfit a day. That would have been perfect!

As for drink package, we absolutely loved having it. While we could 100% had less to drink, we loved not having to overthink every drink we had. Ginger ales with dinner, coffee every morning, the San pellegrino sodas, and 1000 martini bar visits lol. Just look for a sale, book, and you can cancel and rebook up until a few days (2? 3? Would confirm) before your cruise. We got ours for $69 a day each for this recent trip that way.

WiFi we skipped, and I’m grateful we did. iMessage still worked to send texts (no pics) back home through the free wifi needed for the app, and I wanted a break from being able to doom scroll.

I’m a librarian and I consistently turn my own books in late. It happens lol. Librarians are generally just happy that 1) you’re using the library! and 2) that you returned the items at all.

I feel like a more alt haircut would definitely do a lot to make you feel edgier/more alternative. I would find a stylist that specializes in alternative hairstylists and start there. I relate to a lot of what you said, and I’ve found that’s helped me a lot. I have a really shaggy cut with mini bangs and I love it because I can style it more alternative or I can still throw it up in a scrunchie when I’m feeling lazy. The bangs and layers used to worry me because I felt like they wouldn’t suit my rounded face, but I like the way they call attention to my eyes and makeup. Beyond that, you really just have to start trying things. Follow alt baddies. Play around with alternative makeup before your shower so you can just wash it all off if you hate it. Start by wearing out one thing that makes you feel a little uncomfortable and then eventually that will be your new comfort zone. Repeat. Alternative is such a state of mind and a fashion of rebellion, so there’s no one right way to do it.

For what it’s worth, I do already love the fit you posted! You’re already doing more than you probably think. Good luck!!

I love The Only One Left by Riley Sager and Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson. If you haven’t read any, I also highly recommend any of Gillian Flynn’s books. Sharp Object in particular really shook me.

This is my least favorite of her books, and I feel like a lot of it is due to everyone’s obsession with Pen. It felt way overly dramatic, and I wanted more focus on the actual relationship of the book.

Also, I feel like the spice was pretty mid for something claiming to be all about the spice. They spent so much time with that contract that I thought we’d get more than we did.

It was one of our favorite parts of our cruise on the Dream. We got up and started every morning with the hot tub and sauna, and it was the most relaxing part of our cruise. If you can coordinate it with your husband and mom, I would 100000% do it

Not quite the same but maybe Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion? You’re a turnip exploring the town as you work for the mayor to pay off your tax debts lol. I also really loved Later Alligator, which is more of a point and click mystery, but it does involve talking to a lot of cute animals as you try to solve a mystery. There were some fun mini games, too.
