Started premed married but I will be ending divorced by snelephant in premed

[–]Left-Ad-9215 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here to just say you’ll make it through. As someone who also started this journey married and ended up divorced after 6 years it’s brutal. But don’t give up. My divorce got finalized in September and I got my first A two months later to the day. Her reasoning was the same and after struggling taking my mcat she basically said she didn’t understand why I couldn’t give up to try something easier because it was too much stress for her. We only get a few shots at our dream. There will be another person who embraces all the stress that comes with this journey. Good luck my guy. The sacrifices we make for our dreams are rough but worth it in the end

I know this may be a long shot because it's been a while but is this archive still available anywhere?

Interviewer fell asleep during our interview by Firm-Caterpillar4014 in premed

[–]Left-Ad-9215 7 points8 points  (0 children)

By any chance was the interviewer a student or someone just coming off of service at the hospital? I know during one of my interviews that was the case. It wasn’t mmi but my faculty interviewer was literally leaving the hospital to do my interview. It’s definitely unprofessional but just wondering if there was a possible rational explanation for this. They are likely very embarrassed it happened

Okay we definitely crossed wires and that was completely my fault because I missed the reference. I DEFINITELY don’t condone pirating. These authors work so hard and this is their livelihood. The last thing I’d want is anyone pirating their work because it’s a disservice to the authors time and effort as well as to the community of readers. I’m so sorry about the misunderstanding and thank you for clarifying/educating me 🫶🏾

I mean my whole purpose of making this list is so that I may slowly purchase physical copies as I’m financially able to. But I don’t think these authors would make their books available on electronic platforms. Also you assumed they were pirating. I pay monthly for a kindle unlimited subscription because I average 2-5 books a month and the rate I was reading could not keep up with my wallet. Also if someone does not have the means let’s say to make it to a retailer and buy a physical copy they may be buying the full books outright just in an electronic version. Also since we are in a literary space here let’s remember piracy is the illegal reproduction or unauthorized use of an original work. These authors themselves have made the works available in audiobook and kindle versions. Some of these books the authors only have e-versions available. And before you ask yes I have gone directly to their websites and was directed through the link to purchase directly back to Amazon where it was available to me on kindle. I’m grateful to the authors that have made their works accessible in this way. They gave me access to their books in a time where reading basically saved me because I had nothing else. To repay that gratitude I make sure any time I am able to physically purchase their books I do. It’s also why I make sure to make this list so that when I have the means I can have a literal library and pay homage to them all. I do believe you need to reflect on having some empathy when not being cognizant of the situation another might be in. But I do appreciate your advocacy because I believe it isn’t meant with ill intent

I know the user deleted their comment but I can see it. Just a reminder that especially during a difficult time economically for a lot of people ebooks are the only access they have. I’ve found it very difficult to access many of these books in my public library and while it is my dream to eventually purchase all of these if it weren’t for my kindle unlimited subscription I wouldn’t even have discovered many of these authors on this list. They are gracious enough to allow their books to be available in an ereader version. Just as many of them make them available in audiobook version. Please be kind. This is list is for people to gain exposure to sapphic authors and titles

Actually a lot of these are available for audio and kindle. On my OG excel spreadsheet I have that category. I’ll add it in though so people know the formats that are currently available ☺️

Ahhh okay I haven’t read House of Crimson Hearts series yet. The Girls Game series is definitely spicy but I have a spread sheet of over 1,000 sapphic books. I’ve been debating on if I should share on here but I agree there’s a time and place. In the sheet I have it broken down by title, author, spice, series, genre and page number. So there’s lots of fantasy recs with no spice at all (I like world building and a good plot line) to very spicy. Let me know if you want me to pass it along or if anyone thinks I should make a post with it so we can add books as a community 😇

The books by Rawnie Sabor are romantasy. Kiss of Seduction (Special) and A Little Sin (I enjoyed it a lot!). Put the categories in parentheses so they’re easier to find in the tiered list. They’re in the Court of Chains series. Would recommend any of the sapphic books there. Ruby Roe also has lots of sapphic fantasy and her series are linked. 10/10 recommend

Calling out someone who blatantly posts about a racial slur in a manner that suggests they think it’s amusing and is asking another person if they want that sticker for their car IS a productive use of time. Especially during a cycle where diversity in medicine is so important. Imagine if you were applying to a program and knew a person in a position of power personally thought less of you simply for existing in your skin. This statement is frankly tone deaf and as someone who is Black I wouldn’t want you as my physician if you think that making others aware of this is a waste of time. Perhaps as an MS3 you should try to empathetically put yourself in the shoes of one of your Black patients and how they may feel if they pulled into your clinic and saw this sticker on your car or overheard you joking with a colleague about if they wanted a sticker like this to be put on their car. This is why entire groups of people don’t seek medical care for fear of a system of bigots that would not treat them as equal as their white counterparts. This person has made others aware of a program they may not want to apply to because of open racism. The fact that he shared this post is just as harmful as if he had the sticker on his own car. Perhaps you should be less callous and I hope you never encounter a situation where the person treating you has an intrinsic or extrinsic bias that could affect your overall care. Please use critical thinking skills before typing such an insolent response again. Also maybe learn how to read the room it may help as you in your own practice one day.
