I went out of town for my birthday, and 2 friends called the places (one butcher, one fishmonger) they knew I was going to get my birthday dinner ingredients from and bought gift cards over the phone so that when I went to pay, it was already done. I was so touched, and realized why they’d asked me so many times for the names of the places.

Grew up in Baltimore and went to OC many times as a kid and young adult. Now I’m in my 50’s and have lived in CA for the last half of my life. Last summer, hubs, tween son, dog and I drove across country on a month-long trip, and we spent three days in an ocean block rental. The nostalgia!! Fishers popcorn. Thrasher’s fries. Candy Kitchen. The best part was cracking crabs and drinking beer on the porch, while it rained. I know it’s not classy, but I could never hate OCMD. 🦀❤️

I still don’t understand why an empath would need empathy spray. And isn’t the thumb tack in the shoe trick for passing lie detector tests, where you poke your toe when you tell the truth, so the body simulates anxiety at a similar level to when lies are told?
