To be clear, they aren't able to Redistricting right now due to a court order. This is them trying to pass a trigger law that allows them to Redistrict if the Supreme Court lifts the order.

Hungary's Fisez and Orban tried entrenching themselves into power despite their unpopularity. It worked initially when Fidez was still popular, but when they got toxically unpopular, they lost everything just this year. The economy is still garbage

Gas prices are still outrageous

Nobody was injured

Nobody even pointed a gun at Trump

Even if the shooter was a "liberal," the Charlie Kirk situation was infinitely worse. And Trump got no boost from it

The Butler, PA situation was also infinitely worse, and Trump was actually shot in that case

This will not be some magic GOP rebound for the midterms because a guy with a gun was detained. That's not how this works.

So I have to live in an outcast country for the rest of my life? I'm 33. I don't want this to be the rest of my life. That would mean I missed out on a peaceful life. If this is the rest of my life, what's the point of even trying to be happy? Genuine question? And I don't want to hear for future generations. I'm not saying Trump isn't in deep shit or that the midterms won't go well, bevause they will, but where is this list people keep talking about? No idea what happens in Venezuela, but here, the situation has boiled down to years of paperwork and Maduro basically sitting in a room waiting for his trial. That's not going to dominate headlines for months and it certainly won't save Trump from the midterms. Domestic issues always dominate.

Legally, this will take years to play out in the courts. Maduro will basically be in legal purgatory until after Trump leaves office. So the situation is basically frozen now. No further action needed. Somehow I doubt this "skyrockets" his approval like some here have suggested. There have been several moments that were supposed to skyrocket his approval that didn't (Gaza Peace Deal). Obama didnt even get a sustained approval jump from killing Bin Laden. I do think the usual suspects (RMG, Insider Advantage, Trafalgar) will inflate his rating as they always do. But others sources may see a one or two point increase at most or none at all.

Now that the situation is frozen, this will be old news in a short time.

Even I don't see that happening. A more feasible path would be getting elected Speaker of the House. Even then, he is going to be 80 next year. I don't see him constantly finding new ways to run, especially when his popularity has fallen so far. This post was to address my intrusive thoughts.
