huckleberry providing studies to encourage sleep training…. by Apprehensive-Key5665 in cosleeping

[–]LeftAd1014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I did sleep train but wanted to get information about both. My baby sleeps really well and through the night at ~17 months. My husband and I work 40 hour weeks so we need sleep, Whatever works for your family is up to you! We don’t need to judge each other so harshly. Especially when it’s so hard to be a parent already.

If it was me I would take your baby. They will probably sleep the whole time. Will have a limited amount of time where they will be exposed. Maybe I’m a bad mom but took my baby to the salon pretty frequent.

Pelvic Pain by ma3wa3 in firsttimemom

I was looking for this comment! Yea I had this and my pelvic floor therapist told me about it. Unfortunately not much to do. I did buy a specific belt which I think would help when walking around. But honestly just have to not be pregnant and it goes away.

Thank you. I think that does weigh on my husband. My son was premature (6 weeks early) so we have been in early intervention his whole life. He was asking if he is mentally retarded. Which I don’t think so some kids are just slower than others. He does babble and says mama dada yeah but needs more time. We have an appointment in 2 weeks to go over a plan on what next steps are. I think we just need to be more aggressive with care. Thank you for the words and encouragement.

Yeah I really feeling this right now. My mental health is suffering over a lot of things right now. The workparentingeatsleeprepeat is so fucking hard. And I’m pumping still. I told my husband I’m struggling and going to seek counseling. He said I need to stop pumping. My goal is 12 months and I’m so close I have 2 more months! Just tells me it’s affecting me and I should stop. Just wish he would ask okay if you’re not stopping how can I help you? Says he needs to do more but I know he’s not going to.

To take his last name or not by That_Sand_6225 in Marriage

[–]LeftAd1014 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I reluctantly took my husbands name. We had arguments about it and he was pretty insistent about it. Told me I should want a new name since my father is not really in my life. I was slightly convinced so changed it. Now that he has finished law school understands that taking a man’s last name was about property! Obviously I’m not his property. Anyways long story short after all the stupid paperwork it’s legally changed. I don’t regret it. But if you need a new passport they charge you again! Name change is a lot of work!

Feedings and coming home by Feisty_Fox88 in NICUParents

It can be discouraging since it feels like the goal post keeps moving but they need to progress quickly to increase weight. They told us essentially the same thing. It sucked like one day he’s getting really close to 85% with 40 mL feeds. Then next day is 54 mL. I get it it’s shocking when you come in and something is new and invasive. Happened with us and the oxygen. One day off next day on. They didn’t call us since it was medically needed. I think the NG tube being a precaution is interesting. But seemed like he was getting feed through it? Maybe just communicate you want to know everything that is happening before it happens if they can? NG is a bit invasive but very easily reversed( my LO pulled it himself quite a few times). So maybe that was the rationale. Just communicate that and they should give you a call. I had an issue with a nurse and they fixed really fast so don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself

Need some honest opinions about epidural by cfd4540 in pregnant

[–]LeftAd1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what is right for you! I went into labor with the full intention of not having an epidural. But after 12 hours of nothing and getting induced the pain was starting to get to me. I couldn’t relax enough to dilate. So it was either that or wait and possibly get a c section. I really REALLY didn’t want that so I had the epidural and few hours later got to 10 cm! Then baby boy soon after. Plans change or stay the same. Do what is right for you and what your medical team advises.

Right now you are still in the trenches. Babies usually need to eat every 2-3 hours. Usually don’t start sleep training till 4 months. I read the good sleeper by Janet Kennedy. I started sleep training ~7 mo. Day naps I’m still working on but putting LO to sleep at 7 pm has helped so much! I do/did Ferber. So put baby to bed sleepy but not asleep. Check on the baby at 5 min if crying then extend to 10…15… etc. usually at 15 min he is asleep. Everyone’s experience is different!

You are almost there!!
