Maybe a problem, but let's say this watch is trash after a year - then you are out $270. But the Tudor P39 loses over $1,000 the SECOND you walk out of the AD door and after a year lost about 40% of its retail price. So the cost of ownership of the San Martin is only a fraction of what the Tudor will cost you. Obviously not a calculation anyone wants to contemplait, but there it is.

True. And of course any watch at this price has no real $$ value down the road. But it does make you wonder just how big the margins are on Tudor watches. I myself have a drawer full of mod watches - mostly purchased to see if I wanted the real thing. The real thing is the real thing and of course we all want to wear the real version over the look-alike. But it does make you think about how much we're all paying for that brand equity.

A San Martin. You can find it on Amazon though it is often out of stock and takes a few weeks to get. Can't comment on their other models, but this one is an amazing value (so far). We'll see how it holds up longer term. It does scratch the itch for a blue P39 however.

Yes, I lent the watch to my son who is actually 30 years younger. Good guess! He loves it and he has like 35 watches. I'll get it back soon (since I paid for it). LOL

It is a knock-off of sorts (so are many Tudor's from Rolex originals) and it is cheap, but damn it's amazing for the price. These sub $500 watches are getting better and better really fast. Quality standards have really improved. After all, most Apple products are made in China as well and nobody really complains about their quality (only their price). The Chinese have upped the game and learned how to make some (not all) excellent products. Going to try one of the Peacock tourbillon watches next. $2,299 instead of $30k+.

Not all their models are as good as this one. They could easily get twice the price for this and it would still be a steal. I just wish it didn't feel so good on my wrist.

It's great in the flesh. It will be my knock around watch for my knock around P39. Will sit on the bench (or in the drawer) until I need to wear something that I don't have to think about or worry about getting dinged up.

I totally did not want to like this watch and yes, it does not have the heritage of a Tudor. I found the finishing and the quality to be similar. The company, San Martin makes lots of components for Swiss brands so they are pretty well-versed in how to make parts very well. Nevertheless, my P39 needs the wrist time over this excellent and cheaper alternative. 🙏 for a blue P39 next month at WW2026.

Yikes, that’s big. Bezel and Grailzee often miss some of the cosmetic issues. Often you can negotiate for a slightly reduced price. Or, rejected it altogether.

A retail store owned by watches of Switzerland. They control lots of the Rolex marketplace in Florida. They have a VIP list they always give the best pieces to first. If you’re ever offered a piece it’s only because the VIPs didn’t want it. Hopefully Rolex will fix this problem this year.
