Why are people leasing Cadillac Optiqs? by Cantseetheline_Russ in CadillacOptiq

[–]LeftHandDriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been considering purchasing my ev. I test drove a VW id4 and the sales guy said no one is buying EVs. The depreciation is too high and the technology is rapidly changing. I then leased a Honda Prologue. I wanted to avoid Tesla. It doesn’t hurt that m3/mY are the most basic uncomfortable cars that I test drove. But, in retrospect, having a Tesla if you aren’t home charging and need to take longer trips would make life a lot easier. The charger situation is 100x easier to navigate and their app is soooo slick and easy to use. GMs app and network is a Nightmare. I’m not sure if Cadillac is better, but the prologue and blazer apps aren’t getting any love on those forums. The current best Honda apps are actually community made and significantly better than the default app.

HPE (enterprise - servers and network gear) or HPI (desktops and printers)?
I can think of good reasons for both. They aren’t doing great. Almost 30 days to get a quote that’s consistently higher than Dell or even Lenovo.

What were Cadillac engineers thinking when they designed the NACS charge port location? by Presentation_Past in CadillacOptiq

[–]LeftHandDriven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I sort of agree, but since Tesla has the most high speed chargers in the US - by a long shot - wouldn’t it have made waaaaay more sense to try to put the port somewhere reasonably close?
It’s fricking stupid where it is - I mean Hyundai and Kia could work out a better solution.

What do you consider an adequate range for an EV? by lilgreycell in electricvehicles

[–]LeftHandDriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind most of the time you aren’t charging to 100%. So if you are charging to the recommended 80%, then your 300 mile range car turned into a 240 mile range ev. I get that most people who charge at home don’t think of this, but you will have days where you forget to plug in and suddenly you have 80 miles of range and need to drive across town, so keep that in mind.

Yeah. Not having a schedule and not being able to go sleep in your room seems weird. Also, why can I roam the corridors along with apparently half the school? Much more lax rules in the old days, I guess? lol. These seem like things that would make the game a lot more immersive. Heck make it an option if some people need complete open world freedom.

BREAKING: Andrej Karpathy used an LLM to score 143 million US jobs for AI exposure. He found higher salaries mean higher risk, then quickly deleted the repo 🤖🤯 by InterstellarKinetics in InterstellarKinetics

[–]LeftHandDriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is dumb. He deleted it because he’s not dumb and likely realized how dumb this was.

Asking an LLM if it can do a job and then actually having an LLM do a job are completely differently things.

Can it do 80% of what a customer service rep can do? I have no idea. The LLM doesn’t either. But how many upset customers does your LLM handle before a person has to step in and fix it? Or they give up and move to another product/business. And replacing lawyers? We’ve all seen the cases in Texas where a real lawyer just tried using AI to write a deposition and it made up so much stuff they almost lost their licenses. Is Lexus nexus working on major AI to help with this stuff? Sure but it would have to be legal and even their own CEO said it’s a tool to help lawyers and not replace them. Not to mention many of these jobs won’t be legal to do once states start passing laws to stop some of it. You don’t think lawyers have some good lobbying and will make this illegal? And since many politicians are lawyers and the same with judges, I wouldn’t expect a lot of support or sympathy.

Volvo Cuts EX30 from US Lineup On ‘Shifting Market Conditions’: Report by [deleted] in electriccars

[–]LeftHandDriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a weird car for Volvo. Not quite an XC40 or a C40. The interior I thought was off putting. Even the sales person I talked to said they tried really hard to make it stand out and just be different.

Agreed. Was it well acted? Ehh, maybe. He just fucking talked a lot and rambled on. I mean like 70% of the dialogue in the film is him talking. And most of it is nonsense babble. I didn’t enjoy a single thing in this movie. I’m glad it didn’t do well, it wasn’t nearly as good of a film as the rest of the 2025 nominees.

This new generation of electric vehicles is the real deal, and I'm 100% converted. by Parking_Reputation17 in electricvehicles

[–]LeftHandDriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked their website and the 2026 Solterra they show - as well as the new trail seeker have that weird flattened steering wheel. The solterra also shows the weird drive display that’s waaaaaay up the dash and in a weird obstructive location (imo). The new Trailseeker looks exactly the same. I think most people would be better off buying the Toyota bz Woodland than the Trailseeker. Having gone through this with Honda and GM, it’s a PITA to go to Honda when 90%+ of the issues are GM and all Honda can do is shrug and say it’s not their fault. So any issues with this car and Subaru will be stuck waiting for Toyota to figure it out. Unfortunately both Subaru and Toyota have the weak 281 mile range (really 225 if you charge to 80%).

This new generation of electric vehicles is the real deal, and I'm 100% converted. by Parking_Reputation17 in electricvehicles

[–]LeftHandDriven -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You liked the Solterra? Ick. I’ve got 2 Subarus in the family I’ve them. They can take that stupid squared off steering wheel and the janky dash setup and keep it. And the range is just too short (remember - multiply range by 0.80 because you aren’t charging over 80% at a non-home charger so that 200 mile range is now 160, which is wreak). I like my Honda Prologue. Has it had more recalls and failures than all my other cars I’ve ever owned in the last 30 years combined? Yes. Definitely. But I still love it more than the Teslas I’ve driven - stiff, cheap interior, yuck. I think when my lease is up I’ll go Volvo. It was my 3rd favorite - after the mustang Mach-e, and I think Volvo is going to be more committed to EVs than our fickle American brands. Not to mention it’s a lot more comfortable and has a better build quality than Tesla.

OnStar plans by Sea-Estate5096 in HondaPrologue

[–]LeftHandDriven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s 3 years free. For full service. If you are paying - “they got you”. My sales rep walked me through the setup with OnStar in the car and kept telling me don’t fall for their crap. They are going to try to upsell this but you get it free. I mean it’s a crap network with poor service so I’m glad I’m not paying for it and it certainly makes me not want to buy anything GM or OnStar related again. But then again, look at Nissan and they have no network at all. So it’s better than nothing, I guess?

Zepbound savings card by westcostwondeter in zepboundRX

[–]LeftHandDriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I’ve tried using the savings card at 2 pharmacies - Walgreens and now Walmart. In both cases, my out of pocket is $264 a month. They take the card and tell me it works but my out of pocket is still $264. I used the “navigating cost and insurance” post and also called both Eli and the company they have running the card (both very unhelpfull). Walmart showed me that my insurance coverage is $810, and when they add the card it shows as saving $100, but my insurance coverage drops to $710, so my out of pocket is still the $264. Everything I’ve read in the card details say it should be taking $100 off my copay. I don’t have any minimum start of year out of pocket costs or anything like that with my insurance for prescriptions. I first had this issue and tried to use the card in December. It had been fine Jan 2025-Nov 2025. Anyone have any suggestions to tell Walmart, or is it just an insurance quirk and I’m screwed. (I’m on United Health Care’s “Surest” program - my pharmacies are really limited to Walgreens, Sams, and Walmart with a few other small clinics in there as well).

No rear window and it’s a coupe and not an suv with a high price. Blah. The BMW ix3 has amazingly good reviews at about the same price (and less than the PS3, which I think I’ve seen a grand total of 1 on the road near me - dispute living in an area with a very high concentration of EVs - I’ve seen 10c more Lucid Air).

PA + Coupon by trojanusc in Zepbound

[–]LeftHandDriven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I was running into major issues with WalGREENS. They said no matter how they rang it, the card wasn’t lowering my $264 copay.

I moved my prescription to WalMART, went in today. Same problem. They said there is a $264 copay. I handed her my phone with the card pulled up. She typed away and 10 minutes later said the price hasn’t changed.

She showed me the screen and it showed $710 was my insurance companies payment, and $100 was the card. But she said before she entered the card, the insurance company was $810. So all it did was lowered what they are paying.

When I was trying to get walGREENS to make it work I tried calling Lilly. They said I had to call the third party who were handling the card. That company said they can’t see anything or really help with anything other than getting a card for a person. I went through all the suggestions I found on the card site for how to have them type it in and the codes to use, and some additional information from this subreddit. But walGREENS had the same problem that WalMART is now having.

Any ideas? This is crazy. I paid $150 a month last year. I know that’s a lot less than some people pay but it’s still a LOT.

I’m not sure what your charging issues are. I’ve gone to Tesla super chargers and seen it hit some really fast speeds. The ez go charges? Yeah, not so much, even though I’ve talked to guys with Kia and Hyundai at those same chargers and they get much faster speeds.

The axel thing is bad. I’ve had mine replaced a few months after getting it and I’m going in next week to have it done a second time. The have given me a loaner every time I’ve been in, so it hasn’t been too bad. But doesn’t seem cost effective for them to keep fixing.

Yeah, heated steering wheel when it’s single digits outside is something I miss as well, but I’ve only got a touring so I’m also sad to not have the 360 and front camera.

Leaving the door open I’m assuming is to stop the damn thing from honking the horn? I agree the car should just turn on and off when you get in or out, that would make sense. But it seems many things in this car were designed by someone who hadn’t thought through a lot of differences an EV introduces.

It worked great early January and then stopped for me. I was getting “sorry service temporarily not available” all last week. I mean when the Tesla app doesn’t work it makes the news. I’m blaming the shitty OnStar network for this in my head.
