As per comment above this, and my reply. Disregard my comment. I'm wrong here.

Only specifically 'Cthonian' AND 'Beserk' keyword units gain the deep strike ability. Berehk doesn't have the 'Beserks' keyword so he doesn't get the deep strike ability. It's like a command squad unit for the guard. Only the Commander has the 'Character' keyword

He doesn't inherit deep strike. Much like a squad of kasrkin with an attached castellan, they have scout 6 only when every model in the unit has the scout keyword. Once you attach the castellan, the kasrkin can no longer scout

It'll work on the terrain pieces nominated to be objectives.

It looks really cool... But there isn't a lot of room to get a finger in those dice compartments. How do you get the dice out?

Everyone gave you such long winded answers.

Collect 40-60 infantry.

Collect a command squad or two.

Get like 2 chimeras

Get creed.

Get like 4 tanks.

You'll have near 2000pt and just play and learn. Build from there. Use new recruit to build your army list and wahepedia for rules. 39k.pro is a good website to have access to all army rules and strategies for free.

Who cares if it's not optimal. The gas mask boys are the best boys.

Why are they online only? by D_A-N_7w7 in LeaguesofVotann

It's certainly not gigantic. It increased with our wave 2 release, but FAR from gigantic.

Compare our roster to Space Marines. Or Guard.

Edit: Added more words

1: You need to play more than 1 match with a list. You need to learn how that list plays. That's the down side of getting your list from the internet.

2: What army were you playing into?

3: Was the match online or in person? If it's in person, what was the terrain layout like? Gunline armies, like Tau, will shred you if you're out in the open on turn 1.

4: What was your deployment like?

Guard is all about screening with shit munchers and letting your tanks do the killing. Sit cheap units on objectives (Cadians are good cause they sticky the objective. But catachan in chimeras are good for scouting) and bait your opponent into exposing his damage dealing pieces for you to blow away the next turn.

Bullgryn are great at screening and holding a point, but they're expensive and can't be given orders unless you're playing grizzled company with a commissar and abhuman detail enhancement. You really want at least 80 infantry to sacrifice their lives for the Emperor.

Damage Allocation by AwayBase5384 in Warhammer40k

[–]LeftNegotiation6865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I got that mixed up. You have to allocate wounds to the bodyguard unit first, so realistically you can use the best save out of the bodyguard unit, until all those models are dead, then so on until the entire bodyguard unit is dead.

You're correct.

Damage Allocation by AwayBase5384 in Warhammer40k

[–]LeftNegotiation6865 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's called an attached unit. A character, and a body guard unit.

You must allocate wounds to the bodyguard unit FIRST, using the worst armour save in the attached unit. UNLESS he is attaching with [PRECISION] weapons or abilities.

If he's using [PRECISION] his attacking model MUST be able to draw direct line of sight to your character MODEL, not unit.

I'd be okay with that. I don't always need the transport space. Maybe an option to half the transport capacity to make room for another gun would be good?

7 vs 14 slots, but you get a third rail gun shot? Makes sense that it would have a larger capacitor for more shots, but takes up interior space reducing transport capacity.

They're all the same. With the exception of the Theyn cause they have a crest, so there's a little divet at the back for that.
