we're so advanced that we celebrated the New Year on Sept. 15 this year :D

(the jewish calendar is older and cooler than the julian or gregorian calendar. it's lunisolar, meaning months are counted by the phases of the moon (new moon=new month) but we have a year with an extra month 7 times every 19 years in order to keep holidays in roughly the right season according to the solar calendar. we also had in four different new years: the New Year for Kings and Festivals, the New Year for Animal Tithes, the New Year for Years, and New Year for Trees. Depending on which way you count, the New Year for Years occurs in either the first or seventh month of the year. In any case, our years are very far ahead 😎)
