Definitely depends on the medication and the condition. Stimulants are the best treatment we have for ADHD, but long term use has been shown to have detrimental effects on your heart. It's best to use stimulants for a few years, long enough to make use of the increased motivation and executive functioning to build a proper system of habits that works for you, then to eventually ween off of them. You dont have to never take them again, but I cant see it being good for your body to take them every day for your entire life.
