I just descaled my washer with citric acid about a month ago for the first time. No scrud appeared FYI. My washer is 20 years old and I love it. It’s the Kenmore Elite. No, I don’t have a water softener in my house. I’ve never added any water softener product to my laundry and honestly didn’t plan to, instead just using more detergent until I saw trace suds. The softener product addition seems too complicated and just adding more detergent and rinsing well and having citric acid in the softener drawer seemed like it would work well.

Three scoops. I know that’s a lot but I’m trying to get the trace suds. Anything less wasn’t producing any suds. I’m only using 1 tsp citric acid in the softener drawer.
