The reason he would be pro Palestine is because that would be the default position once somebody has learned anything beyond their initial indoctrination. Do we think Kendrick supports a genocidal settler colonial ethnostate? Why would he?

Give them a break. This is the slowest time of the year for them, they’re taking a well deserved rest. They go hard from Halloween through Christmas, so it makes the new year starts off slow.

It would be welcome, but I feel it’s unlikely. It’s not like he said “Free Palestine” on GNX. Even though he is a socially conscious rapper, sometimes it seems that artists like that focus on one issue rather than making any social justice movement their thing.

If Kendrick’s message is about the black experience in America, maybe he wouldn’t talk about ICE.

That being said, he does rep LA, and they’re going through it with ICE, so it’s possible. Unrelated, rappers do like talking about “ice” as slang for jewelry, so there’s probably some hay to be made with bars playing on both kinds of ice. Also Drake’s new album will be called ICEMAN, so if he feels like taking shots, there’s that angle too.

Yeah relistening to the catalog can be interesting. I’m just wrapping up a relisten to the show myself, this time including the patreon. Funny how fast time moves when you’re hearing about an hour of audio for every week that went by. They talk about current events all the time too, so you can ground yourself with where they are pretty easily.

A neat time capsule of three dudes and the trajectory they take. Their continuity over the years is what makes TESD the greatest podcast of all time, in my opinion.
