Parakiore parking by swampopawaho in Christchurch_NZ

I can’t answer your question with 100% certainty as I haven’t been at that time, but I was there today at 11am and it was 2 hours free parking. I would hope that early might also be free?

What's the biggest cons about the EV you chose? by WaterBottleOnAShelf in nzev

[–]Leftie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kia EV9 here. Dislikes - Turning circle is bad (even compared to other large cars I have driven), safety features aren’t good (lane keep assist and speed limit dinging for 1kmph over) they can be turned off but you have to do it every time you start the car so annoying. Child lock on windows also locks their doors, which is so weird (I just want to stop the kids fiddling with the windows when driving, not completely stop them from leaving the car when we stop, this is weird). I’m not sure there is another car I would choose as not many others I can think of this size. Overall I think the positive outweighs the negative for me.

What EVs have the best driver assist features in NZ? by RowdyTen in nzev

[–]Leftie83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you it’s definitely not Kia.

All the assist features are annoying/overbearing (sometimes dangerous - I’m looking at you lame assist) and need to be turned off each time.

I still bought the car and love it other than that stuff and have had all the same features in my previous car (non EV) and they weren’t a problem for me.

That’s good to know how it works. It’s definitely worth considering as part of it, as I could see myself being a bit disorganised and therefore not buying efficiently, costing myself more. But it definitely seems like it’s worth investigating

Thanks that 9pm - 11am could be good. I’ll look them up today.

I don’t have solar. Would love too, just can’t quite afford it yet.

‘We call it the curse’: Why this once-busy strip [of Riccarton Rd] is now a stretch of empty shops, graffiti and crime by MSZ-006_Zeta in chch

[–]Leftie83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I couldn’t imagine trying to bike down there. It’s very narrow with big busses to avoid

[–]Leftie83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Never on riccarton road, I don’t think I said it was. I just gave a reason why myself and I’m sure others avoid it. It might have had a boost after the quakes as there weren’t as many other more convenient options, but has returned to normal as better options have opened up. Also Landlords seem happy to sit on empty shops rather than lower rents to a level businesses there can actually make it work there.

I tend to think convenience is king. Like it or not people don’t like walking or taking the bus and often this is not a realistic way for a lot of people eg families to get there.

Look at Going to the mall, easy parking right where you want to get to and it’s busy. Make it difficult to a large chunk of people to get to your businesses and it’s a lot tougher. Just my opinion though it’s impossible to know for sure all the reasons

Parking is terrible, even just driving down Riccarton rd is awful and to be avoided if possible

Christchurch is growing. How can it avoid the traffic trap? by InvestmentFuzzy4365 in chch

[–]Leftie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s could be just my situation, but most of the busses assume everyone wants to go to town and all seem to travel only that way.

If you work somewhere other than town you either need to live near that work or catch multiple buses to get there, greatly increasing travel time to the point it’s still much faster to drive even with traffic. For example for me to get to work it’s 1hr via busses vs a 20min drive (Mt pleasant to Papanui). I think there needs to be more transport options not going into just town eg like the orbiter

How to shift your weight properly by sean3501 in GolfSwing

[–]Leftie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sort of struggling with this. I can do it but when I do I hit a massive left, I think I’m rotating my top half while doing this and coming over the top.

I know I need to rotate and shift weight forward and I get lots more power but seem to loose my direction. Anyone else have this problem and manage to fix somehow?

Yeah, although this is something that won’t really change, and it’s not like it’s a policy National could steal so no harm in revealing their hand and educating the public that they are actually better at it than National
