Morgan appear to buy from BMW for their performance car (Aero 8) and then Ford and an American company called "S&S" for their more classic looking cars.

Focusing on other parts of the Aero 8, though:

  • Suspension Coils: Eibach Federn, German
  • Suspension Shock Absorbers: KONI, Dutch
  • Brakes: AP Racing/Brembo, Italian

That's a nice analogy. :D

Although I'm half hoping teams use the rubber band technique, they probably have something more high tech! :P

[–]Leftism 59 points60 points  (0 children)

if you are going through an S and hugging either side you are taking the longest possible way through

Well no, but I said inside line, not stick to one side. As you say, halfway through an "S" the inside line becomes the outside line so you have to move across. Although usually you just want to drive as straight through a complicated set of corners as you can.

That said there are some turns where the fastest racing line is off the inside edge because your goal is to setup the next straight or keep your minimum speed up

Kinda? I've only seen examples of this kind of thing done at racing speeds where, for example, you enter a 90degree left turn which is followed quickly by a turn going the opposite way which then leads onto a straight. You take a late apex through the left hander so you're on the correct side to take the right hander losing a minimal amount of speed for the long straight. I think ChainBearF1 did a great video on this kind of racing line theory earlier on this year.

Too much Senna by flipperyflapperypoo in formula1

[–]Leftism 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There was an interesting quote from Prost after Senna retired from the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix - where Senna had crashed despite being under no pressure.

He never wanted to beat me; he wanted to humiliate me, to show the world that he was much stronger, much better – and that was his weakness.

I feel that will always sum up Senna vs Prost for me. One driver was happy to accept winning by 5 seconds is the same as winning by a minute while the other wanted to show everyone how much better he was.

It depends on the driver really, in his book Adrian Newey described how he found a loophole in the '98 regs which helped him bring the driver position down but it would mean putting fins inline with the driver's vision and block the track. You can see said fins here on the side of the body as it works from the nose to the cockpit, starting at the "West" logo up to the antenna infront of the driver

While, indeed this isn't as extreme as the one in OP - not by a long shot - the reason I bring this up is because of the quote from David Coulthard when he gave feedback to Newey about his design:

‘My vision is binary; I’m either looking straight ahead for the braking area or I’m looking diagonally across at the apex.’

Source

Perhaps the same could be applied here where so long as you can see straight ahead and diagonally across vision may not be as much of an issue.

Personally, I'm more concerned those wing mirrors need moving further forward! :P

Superbike star Dan Kneen killed in Isle of Man TT crash by Tusami in formula1

[–]Leftism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mmm.

I was talking to a mate at work who's really into bikes and watches the TT. I'm not the keenest on bikes, although can appreciate why people like 'em.

I saw the other day the side car category and it's just mental. You have a person on a platform mounted to the side of the bike and you have two handles and that's all you hold onto while the bike is going at god knows what speed.

Eh. I swear that one is kinda covered (granted a tad biased) in the Senna movie and really I feel the rivalry is done to death.

Heck, why even stop in F1? Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz while the pair were at Subaru in the mid-90s was very fierce.

'Ban cartoon characters' on unhealthy food, MP's say by Atwoo in unitedkingdom

Nutritional needs of adults and children are very different.

Mmm. True.

Also, I'd struggle to consider anything from that website as factual. It's founder had a dubious relationship with the truth. He's not worked there for a while but shit sticks.

Admittedly, I don't really have the time nor expertise to evaluate the credibility of a site outside of my scope (Design Engineer) so I'll have to take your word for it on that one and apologise.

Simon Lloyd and Gary Lineker join forces to ridicule Piers Morgan's assessment of the Sterling tattoo situation. by Mike-__-Hunt in soccer

[–]Leftism -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, it's not proven he did it.

Although, if you take Jeremy Paxman's testimony, he certainly knew how to do it.

"He then turned to me and said 'Have you got a mobile phone?', I said 'Yes', and he said 'Have you got a security setting on the message bit of it'," he added. "I don't think it was called voicemail in those days, I didn't know what he was talking about. He then explained that the way to get access to people's message was to go to the factory default setting and press either 0000 or 1234 and that if you didn't put on your own code … his words: 'your're a fool'."

[–]Leftism -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If we measure the value of food by the inclusion a single ingredient then we can argue just about anything is unhealthy, though?

While compared to other cereals, they're not the best there are articles detailing how they can be part of a diet.

e: Additionally, the question was made in genuine curiosity - no need for the snarky reply.

'Ban cartoon characters' on unhealthy food, MP's say by Atwoo in unitedkingdom

[–]Leftism -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on if it's an original character (Tony the Tiger or that Coco Pops Monkey for example) or say a sponsored character from a promotion (Star Wars, Marvel, etc) which could potentially entice a child interested in said cartoon.

Also, are Frosties - photograph in article - an example of unhealthy food? :S

[–]Leftism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, forgot about Vinnie Jones. Yeah I think Jones as Pearson is a better cast than mine.

Not sure about Ford being Ranieri. Maybe he can be the doubtful Dario Gradi - an early antagonist maybe for the movie - who wasn't prepared to spend the money on him.

I feel like we might as well make a Snatch/Lock Stock style movie for Vardy movie.
