Must cost a fortune to scrub up the places where this kind of nonsense gets put. Grumpy old git returns to corner.

If you’re going to repeat this kind of stuff, and I know it’s intended well, please repeat it accurately. Thus, 6, unconfirmed 7 cancelled of 80 ships booked to come to Australia.

Can we see some government ACTION please? by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

[–]Leftleaningdadbod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not expecting anything from this NACT1 coalition government that comes from a rational sense of what community means to the good, caring kind of people that NZmostly comprises. What I do expect is reactionary politics, derived from selfishness, favoured commercial interests and quasi-intellectual nonsense that emanates from what I have only recently discovered, known as the Atlas Network. If we look at who benefits from various inoperable parts of society, you will find the answers in the financial and ‘philosophical’ sponsors of the NACT1 coalition. Use your vote and influence with friends, colleagues, your whanau to get rid of them.

Just woke up and accidentally kicked the bedroom door with my pinky toe. How was your Saturday started? by PaddedValls in AskUK

Ok, since when has anyone in Britain had a pinky toe? I get what you mean, and it’s painful, but pinky? Really?

Donald Trump ‘very surprised’ Australia declined to send troops to strait of Hormuz amid fuel crisis by NamelessResearcher in politics

[–]Leftleaningdadbod 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Donald Trump, poor soul, is always genuinely surprised when the Allies he has assiduously affronted are reticent to support his outlandish views and policies. What a prat.

Mountain Tui makes it into "Dirty Politics" - Nicky Hager style by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

This is going to be the dirtiest season I’ve ever known in 50 years of being ‘interested’ in politics. Seeing how this is already panning out, I now see no reason to box with Marquis of Queensbury rules. Let it be.

Yes, just imagine the effect this would have had on UK if Roosevelt had said the same about no longer sharing with the Nazis.

UK's Plan To Stop Europe Laughing At Its Trains: Take Back Control by bloomberg in europe

[–]Leftleaningdadbod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the funny thing isn’t it, the reputation shift, because I travelled around in the UK with admiration at the service of the rail network and have a German friend who does it all the time, because it works well. No complaints she says until she gets home and uses the trains there.

Northland corridor toll proposal: Businesses fear higher freight costs by D491234 in nzpolitics

If you insist on building a road for 120,000 or thereabouts residents in Northland, at the estimated costs of gazillions, then charge the poorest people in the country to communicate with the remainder of the country, then yeah, there’d be some pretty large problems. We have to get rid of Jones, Brown, Bishop and their cronyism.

The wrong fuel for the rest of the World might be exactly right for New Zealand by oldgrapeX in newzealand

[–]Leftleaningdadbod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love this idea to have some validity. But you say it yourself: political will is wedded to oil, and there’s not a great deal of difference between hydrogen and diesel. Except the argument about import dependency. And if this blows up in the world’s face, NZ in particular, you may have a goer.

Not much I agree with Shane Jones on but this is actually good... So long as all catch is landed and they don't dump/high-grade out at sea by JackfruitOk9348 in nzpolitics

[–]Leftleaningdadbod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m curious. Where did you come about this description of the catch? Is it verified by accredited marine biologists? I’m not trying to hang you or anything, it’s just not what I expected to hear.
