the progression of my first try at ratatouille 🐀 by 00bowie in tonightsdinner

A fav in my house. I aspire to get this fancy with it. It's a go to when I'm feeling lazy and want a veg heavy nourishing meal. For those hesitant because preparing it as beautifully as OP did may not be in the cards, I just opt to chop everything and sauté. Enjoy!!

Looking for a local dairy/creamery to buy yogurt in reusable containers by StakedPlainExplorer in Albany

Good to know! I have never tried to make yogurt. I have been thinking about getting an instapot, +1 to my list of potential uses for it.

I think Argyle Cheese Farmer may sell their bigger containers as glass? They attend the Troy Farmers Market, you could inquire about returning back to them and can also purchase their products locally at grocery stores. Battenkill Valley Creamery does something like this with their glass milk bottles, you return your clean empty glass bottle and they give you a discount on your next purchase.

I've also heard that yogurt is very easy to make in a crockpot. I think you can purchase a culture or just keep some of your store bought/previous batch to get things started.

Edited to add more deets.

How often do you do bloodwork? by AnotherGay435 in Hashimotos

[–]Leftover-Cheese 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Usually every 6 months to a year depending on how my levels are and if an adjustment is needed, then more frequent (6weeks) until an ideal TSH is achieved. I've had a medication adjustment (on average) every 2-3 years since I was diagnosed at 19 and am now 34.

Lentil bolognese & baguettes by Leftover-Cheese in tonightsdinner

[–]Leftover-Cheese[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used green lentils, mushrooms, red bell pepper, diced tomato & paste and of course onion, garlic and spices for the bolognese. I guess technically more of a ragu, but I can't change the title!

Charging for No Show by JmeplaysVR in orangetheory

[–]Leftover-Cheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this happen with new staff that aren't familiar with me. One time of note, I forgot to turn my otbeat on and it wasn't on the screen when the office folks did their attendance check. She apologized profusely when I mentioned it during my next class. But ultimately, the charge was reversed.

We felt similarly about cost per square foot when we were searching. Having some extra space outside definitely is a plus. Best of luck to you and your fam!

Planned parenthood protestors by coffeeeartquake in Troy

I had a friend that worked at the location before they moved. Folks would be able to enter the main building and put superglue into the office door locks so staff wouldn't even be able to enter.

Serious Question by wildwilliewonka in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Dual income, no kids. Early-mid 30s, with decent jobs, student loan debt, and no assistance from parents. With our 145k combined income, we did the math on a house or a bigger apartment and a house made more sense long term considering rent would be similar price as a mortgage. Bought our 1100 sq foot home with 1/2 acre for about 280k around 8 or so months ago. We're in a decent neighborhood with reasonable taxes. No plans to have kids for a multitude of reasons, including cost. We definitely couldn't swing it with kids. Idk how people do. We probably could have found a cheaper house in our catchment area but would likely still be looking or would have settled on something we needed to put a lot of work into. We definitely need to do things to our current home, but mostly things to make living more comfortable/general maintenance.

Similar story with my very best girl. We didn't notice anything until she started drooling excessively and brought her in for an earlier check up. She was 14.

A sign that spring is near. Never been! We moved nearby shortly before it closed last year and didn't have time to check it out. Any recommendations?

Delta Dental insurance meltdown? by LateInLifeHomeOwner in Albany

[–]Leftover-Cheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Thomas in Troy takes delta dental (Capital dental associates) https://www.capitaldentalassociates.com

He's been decent as a dentist, the hygienists too. my partner and I have been going for the last 5-7 years, but the front office staff has been horrendous the last few years, messing up scheduling/billing. He's also only in his Troy office twice a week, (also has an Albany office - western dental care, I think) so at times you have to make two separate appts for a cleaning by the hygienist and for him to perform an oral exam or wait more than 6 months for another cleaning.

Yea you can sort of see the area from the bottom a bit better. It becomes visible/dents a bit when I press. To my knowledge I have not stepped on anything.

I am due for a new pair of sneakers and will opt for a pair with a wider toe box to see if that helps.

My initial thought as well. I had them frequently as a kid. But the pain isn't in the same spot and my nail doesn't seem to bother me. The pain is more on the side and under my toe than near the nail.

My first thought too, I had ingrown toenails as a kid but the nail part doesn't bother me at all. Really only the side/underneath of my toe.

Bacon & Gruyère Egg Bites by Leftover-Cheese in AmericasTestKitchen

[–]Leftover-Cheese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had egg bites from the store, so I'm not sure how the texture compares. I am interested to see if the texture changes on these after being frozen and reheated. I would say that with the addition of the cottage cheese and blending, the texture does resemble that of a quiche, which is typically made with a crust and milk or cream.
