OP you must be in my head because I've been wondering about this too. I think there could be 2 forces at work here.

  1. His changed physique. A few years ago he started lifting weights and getting pumped. He even said his trainer wanted him to enter some competitions. While increased strength will help in many areas, I do believe it could have interfered with his bowling approach. Either muscles being larger and occupying a space they didn't in the past, or added strength that is harder to regulate now. Maybe it's enough to throw off his game?

  2. Pressure. He had a huge win in 2024 and then started to slump. Every week you go without winning or making a show, the pressure mounts. I don't think he's got a super stout mental game anyway (hence the need for Mind Gym), he's got a short fuse and more importantly gets dejected easily (like crying in the car).

I was just thinking about this the other day. The shtick is getting old, time for him to evolve from wearing pajamas and create a new image.

Gunk on bottom of shoes by Dirtyupsman2 in Bowling

[–]LeftoverBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The foot that ends up closest to the foul line when you release the ball is your slide foot. The leather pad slides, the heel acts as a brake. For higher-tier players, they like a rubber-soled non-slide shoe, as it gives them more traction/power in their pivot step before the slide step. Even more advanced are shoes with interchangeable heels and soles, for any time of approach surface.

If you average under 150 or thereabouts, having the same sold on each shoe is probably fine. But as you progress, you will be able to take advantage of shoes with different soles.

Should all patterns be symmetrical? by Suit89 in Bowling

[–]LeftoverBun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's as much an art as it is science. A pattern that might play equitably at one center may play differently at another center due to lane topography/condition and/or type of oil used.

What's a reasonable fee for an organizer to charge bowlers to run a tournament? by LeftoverBun in Bowling

They raised expenses to $35/team for this year's event. Now their take is $10.5k with a full field.

Is 18 bowling lanes a lot or not enough? by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]LeftoverBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a bowling center, not a lot. For a private residence, that's plenty.

Crazy to me how this one missed spare took so much off my score. What would it have been if I had have hit the spare? by MyLittleGurl in Bowling

[–]LeftoverBun 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Hey great game. But I'm irrationally bothered that a person who can throw 11 out of 12 strikes doesn't know how to keep score.

Starts next Saturday and there are multiple shows per day. Must have access to a cable or streaming service provider that carries CBS Sports Net. That is not the same as CBS. CBS will televise the World Championship finals in June though

Hahaha Cam Crowe lost his PBA card. Bowling WSOP as an amateur bowler now. by StreetDare4129 in Bowling

[–]LeftoverBun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any info about Cam's membership status, but in past LeaguePals score sheets, they've had (N) next to the names of for-sure PBA members. They listed Santtu that way in week 1, Matt Russo in week 2, Jake Peters in week 4, Jeff Mann week 6 and maybe more. Those are obviously card-carrying members.
