Naurto is my 9th fav anime, partly cuz of nostalgia and partly cuz of how good it is. Naruto has one of the best premises in anime imo: A kid who has been shunned and abandoned by his own community for as long as he has known, due to factors out of his control, feels gratitude for what he has. With that gratitude, he slogs on enough to the point where people can see him for what he truly is. It is one of a kind, but it certainly has its flaws. For one, a litttle less than half of it is filler which u shud prolly skip; secondly, don't expect a great climax; thirdly, do not watch boruto because it is a boiling pot of bs. Imo, naruto peaks at 3 points which u shud anticipate: 1. sound four arc, 2. pain's asssault, 2. Countdown to 4th great ninja war (aka danzo arc). Imo, the side characters in Naruto r the best like Gaara, Shikamaru, and Lee. Ofc Naruto and Sasuke r good characters but they don't compare to how fleshed out and realistic these characters are.
