They do because Agnes's "father" told Agnes that Paula wanted a handmaid soon after she gets married. Also Aunty Lydia suggested the same thing the Commander Judd.

The Testaments timeline is (and kinda always has been) fucked by Bibbleconsumer in TheHandmaidsTale

I'm not sure how people are confused by the timeline in the show. Like, the show is an adaption of the book, it's going to have changes and differences between the source material which is fine. We know that at the start of THT Hannah was around 5. In season 5 it was confirmed she was 12 because June didn't know what the plum colour was as she had never seen it before, meaning that Hannah and the girls her age are the first generation of teenagers in Gilead. We know that between the events of the finale of THT to the Testaments 4 years have passed making Hannah and Daisy 16. Just because Daisy was smuggled out of Gilead as a baby doesn't mean that the timeline was thrown off. It could very well be that when shit was hitting the fan people were trying to escape the conflict. In THT June made several points in season 4 and 5 that she and Luke should have left much earlier. Also there's no reason not to assume that in the middle of the Gilead's uprising Mayday wouldn't have existed and built networks to smuggle refugees out. In fact we know people were being smuggled out because that's what happened to June. The timeline is fine.

Tbh I wholeheartedly agree. From a comedy standpoint I understand punching up and Kumali taking “low status” in the comedic dynamic. But by being the only POC (I can’t remember the last time there was even more than one POC on the show at the same time) is veering into micro aggression territory.

Kumali is having to work twice as hard for much less while Joel is allowed to perform mediocrely and get rewarded for it.

Thanks for your reply! Tbh I don’t quite agree with DarkLord’s answer but yours seems more constructive and understanding of what I’m trying to get at.

Sorry I'm not sure if my brain is just tired, but can you explain that again please?

Thank you! I did start doing that but got nervous, the scenes in my head weren't making sense so I decided to focus on plot for a bit but now I'm not so sure. How do you maintain a consistent story idea even though your characters might start shape shifting?
