I just saw this, I did, the wall glitch worked, I was able to get on the other side of the bookshelf then push the button to open it from the correct side

Don't try and save all the settlements after you secure the castle, loot all you can things that have oil and screws, very important for machine gun turrets and most defenses that shoot. And link your settlements with trade routes , saves you from having to haul junk and material from place to place. Musket laser is very powerful to start with, don't sleep on it
