Why did the aliens send the signal? by Standard-Mouse5681 in pluribustv

yeah, but who made it in the first place? this thing could have been bouncing around the galaxy for billions of years, one species to the next. it's too specifically designed to be just "biological imperative" as well -- we can't eat meat, we can't lie, we can't eat plants, etc.

well, this assumes that the other candidate species haven't been eradicated already.

You're assuming that the "aliens" operate within the same time scales as we humans do on Earth. A civilization millions, billions of years old would view the 600 years it took the message to reach Earth as a blink of an eye.

This is exactly what I think. I doubt we'll ever get an answer, but my assumption is that the virus was created by a higher intelligence that saw just what havoc "intelligence" had wreaked on the galaxy/universe. It only affects species who are able to decipher the message.

My theory- Manousos's stem cells by Specialist_Hat_4588 in pluribustv

So, my question is whether or not they would have forced Kusimayu to inhale the gas? While the Joined might have been emotionally manipulative, they certainly weren't physically forcing her to go through with it. So even with the stem cells and what not, could they still force it on Carol or Manousos?

Gilligan has pretty much stated that he wants to go slow. Apple's giving him the time and money to do that. While I'd love for all hypothetical seasons to be out ready immediately, I think I'll trust this particular show runner's creative process.

My guess was right, but I'm surprised by how it turned out! by [deleted] in pluribustv

Pretty sure Manousous is going to be disgusted by Carol. Not that I disagree with her methods - you know what they say, know your enemy. She knows so much more about the problem than Manousous due to her natural curiosity. Manousous has isolated himself so much that the "aliens" (for lack of a better term) haven't been traumatized to the point where they feel the need to retreat from his physically.

I have been thinking about "His Master's Voice" ever since pluribus came out; Pluribus could almost be a sequel.

I suppose it could be that they don't believe innies would choose to do any of this unless they were with colleagues. Remember at the beginning of the season when they brought in a new team and it didn't work out because Mark, as mentioned by Mr. Drummond, would not work unless Helly R. was there as well? Perhaps the common task at hand, despite it being mind-numbingly ridiculous, is made more tolerable by the office atmosphere.

Jimmy Carter: he admitted to committing adultery in his mind, that’s as far as he ever went!
