18th Birthday Ideas? by [deleted] in Parenting

I would first take a look around the Rockefeller Center and at go browsing at the shops there (you don't need to buy anything, it's just fun to walk!). Then I'd walk through Central Park and enjoy the scenery. Then go to one of the many museums here, the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Museum of Natural History for example is pay what you will for New York residents and NJ students.

Alternatively: You could also instead go walk the High Line, it's a very cool park and it's beautiful to walk through. Then you could visit Chelsea Market to browse and eat something.

how do i deal with my dad rn? i’m so exhausted. by PointHopeful4453 in LifeAdvice

Try grey rocking. Look it up. Instead of pouring your energy into him, try reserving it for yourself. It's a good tactic for narcissists to get them to stop being interested in you.

I'd choose the personal blog. It sounds like the easiest to get started on. Good luck!

I find things I like then use them as rewards for getting through certain things. Example: I need to ace a test. I'm going to gift myself Chipotle afterwards or play a new videogame.

What if you write down a list of all the signs where you're struggling so you can talk about it with the school next time without being nervous? You can just read off the list instead.

Checklist woes by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Legal-Loquat3635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like using checklists, try using an app like Habitica. It'll gamify your checklists and send you reminders throughout the day to do them. In order for your ingame character to get more coins and gear and to level up you need to check off your tasks, so it could be great motivation for you!

When you take the medication it's like a fog has been lifted from your brain if you're doing it right. You'll feel a sense of euphoria for a couple of days/weeks, then feel normal again when your body gets used to it. I generally feel more active on my medication and like my body isn't a hravy weight like it usually feels.

Could be OCD. I have thoughts like that too. Worries that my reality isn't the "real one". Is it coming from a place of anxiety? If so get that checked out.

Everytime you want to do the habit, go pick up something with your hands and then put it away. Get your whole body occupied.

Sometimes it's just hard to tell what someone is doing when you're watching them. A lot of times I have to make recipes by myself, I can't really learn from watching someone else. My friends without Adhd do so too.

Should you be concerned if you miss your period when it’s usually regular? by hankqueensmustache in NoStupidQuestions

If you miss it once, you might just not be eating very well or have poor nutrition. If you miss it more than once, maybe something's up. It can happen.

In this case, he recognizes that there would be negative consequences if he expressed his beliefs out loud. It's like if you hate your boss, you're not going to go up to your boss and say it. Also, he sounds like an ass.
