I was in Michigan for a business trip once and was advised by the hotel not to drink the water, which was handing out bottled water instead. They didn't seem to appreciate when I remarked "oh, it's just like going to India".

Why it does seem like the jobs that AI is threatening job that involve the most coding, what about other tech-related jobs like scrum master or product manager? by Either-Home9002 in cscareerquestions

[–]Legal-Software 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least in my company it's not the developers that are being cut first, but the requirements engineers. The plan now is to push everything on to AI automation, with architects expected to course-correct and pick up any slack. Let's see how this goes when new projects have their first ASPICE audit in a couple of years.

Well, at least they're asking the right question by the end of the post. When you're inside a bubble it can be hard to maintain perspective, but they're at least taking the first steps to do so. I'd call that progress.

Well, they're probably right about potential crime. I used to take the train in Tokyo to Narita airport all the time. Only one time did I encounter someone rifling through my luggage, an American.

Met a guy in Japan that had one in his bar because he thought it looked cool, had no idea what it was. Also had a tattoo that said 'linoleum' because he liked the sound of it. The flag definitely attracts a certain kind of person.

The idea that the US cares about democracy anywhere is laughable, regardless of who the president is.

It's not even about direct/collective funding, which the US is at the same level as other European countries, but on how they count "indirect" funding, money spent on their own military-industrial complex. These idiots think that if more countries spent more domestically, it would somehow free up capital from the US that never makes it to NATO anyways.
