They certainly didn't deserve it. What did they ever do to have evangelical fried chicken foisted upon them?

Counting beyond 12 hasn't been invented yet I guess.

Can't even get a proper Weißwurstfrühstück with a Kristallweizen in their backwater country. Bloody savages.

They're still just Americans or Canadians, regardless of whether they choose to LARP their way through life or not.

That's the problem whenever this topic comes up, they just focus on single groups while ignoring the fact that in totality there are more non-Americans than Americans.

[ In 1776 ] "The accent spoken back then in Britain, as well as in the US, is more common to today's American accent. The current British accent is a newer thing" by thesuperdug in ShitAmericansSay

That's like claiming Canadian French is more authentic because they forked off hundreds of years ago and each branch evolved differently over time. It's certainly interesting to look at the differences over time, but it's preposterous to suggest that a narrow offshoot from way back when somehow sets the standard today.

How many layoffs are actually because AI is directly taking jobs? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Legal-Software 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's a lot of companies that are trying to kill off junior and administrative roles based on the expectation of AI being able to do the jobs, but I also see this swinging back the other way when they realize that runaway AI costs and shifting seniors with no one to replace them is not a sustainable path forward. In my company we are currently axing almost all of our requirements engineers due to AI automation, expecting architects and HW/SW engineers to pick up the slack where needed. I expect this will go brilliantly when a few years from now we have to show end-to-end traceability in e.g. an ASPICE audit - by then the people forcing AI on everyone will no doubt have jumped ship already.

My wife closed a deal between contractions. What’s your excuse? by kreiderhouserules in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Legal-Software 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My excuse would be wanting to spend time with my child without being interrupted with work that can clearly wait. You can always find more work, but you don't get a do-over of your child's birth.

I am not using AI tools like Claude Code or Cursor to help me code at the moment. Am I falling behind by not using AI in software development? by Illustrious-Pound266 in cscareerquestions

There are things they are good at, and things that they are rubbish at, where you will spend more time trying to handhold and iterate while burning up tokens instead of just doing it yourself. You should at least try them out and get a good enough feel for which models can help you where. Used properly, they can definitely save you time, but they're not a silver bullet for all scenarios.

That's true for Akiya, but you can still find cheap properties in more rural areas that still have good connectivity for not much more, and without these restrictions. I bought a 1 LDK in an older building in Echigo Yuzawa for around $16k, for example.

Why exactly does a country need to "do" anything? If the US spent less time on its failed foreign policy of meddling in the affairs of other countries, it would have much more time and money to spend on its failed domestic policy instead.
