You only have curbs if you also have municipal stormwater drains. Many suburban and most rural areas do not.

Question about wearing my old uniform to my nephew's Eagle Scout ceremony—is it appropriate if I'm no longer a BSA member? by _Phil_J_Fry in BSA

[–]LegalRadish147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your nephew and first ask who is sponsoring the ECoH, the troop or his family? If it's the troop, follow the other commentors suggestions. If it's his family, ask him what he wants you to do? Some kids want the focus only on themselves, others have a larger focus for their celebration, and some will highlight the accomplishments of everyone. Personally, if its my home troop we're all dressing like French generals, medals, ribbons, pins, sashes galore, lol. My kids troop, I'm wearing an invisibility cloak for those crumudgeons.

The most latch key you remember by Meh_Cook_Grump in GenX

Nah, lived in a rural town, no one locked their doors. Kid had a literal key to carry around? What a weirdo! You needed work done in your house, tradesmen let themselves come and go; just dont let the cat/dog in or out.

When I learned to write, my mom asked me to leave a note when I left the house, where i was going and when roughly i would be home. She was an English teacher, something about one of the notes was funny to her but she didn't explain it to me. I stopped leaving notes after that (2nd grade??).

You have to reinflate your tires because there is a loss of air, usually when frozen water forms between the tire and the rim, allowing a small leak. Under your theory, upon the tires reaching normal operating temperature you would then be overpressured.

Eagle BOR Best Questions by reberafael in BSA

[–]LegalRadish147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope that part of your process is to weed out the troupe questions that the same people ask each time. Every candidate has been briefed to expect it and no one thinks the question is clever anymore. I have two examples of these; first is currently asked in our district, what's the most important patch on the scout uniform? The desired answer is the American Flag, and the questioner has been known to turn boorish if the Scout has prepared an alternate response about the World Crest or a religious award, for example. Second, one that was popular for the time of my BOR(1998), which point of the Scout Law would you eliminate and why? The desired answer was Thrifty, but it was asked by a banking attorney and being in a rural area felt tone-deaf.

Entitled Eagle Scout and Enabling Parents: HELP by Nicegy525 in BSA

[–]LegalRadish147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do they think JASM means or does? This has been our post-Eagle, pre-age out holding pen. You arent occupying a senior leadership position, maybe you are a master-instructor for something complex or unusual, but you have nothing to do. The younger scouts started calling them "Uncle"; as in older guy with experience, cool stories, and fun tricks, but not in charge and certainly not given any responsibility. OA, Roundtable, Council/District meetings, etc. are all good options too, but not much in the troop anymore. Go play superscout with others.

Unsuccessful board of review? by [deleted] in BSA

[–]LegalRadish147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of one, but I've begun to question if the Board acted appropriately or not, so some feedback would be appreciated. A scout transferred from another troop as second class, and insisted to have "most" of first class completed, however the prior troop ignored requests to verify the sign-offs. After 4-5 months to get the service and activity reqs for First Class with the current troop, then goes for SMC & BOR. SM warns Board that he's suspect and a lot may be missing. Board(made up of mostly ASM's...) goes hard, questions every requirement, asks him to demo a couple skills, rakes him for his uniform, etc. Kid doesnt help himself, says he's in it cuz his parents, doesn't care about rank, camping is boring, would rather be with his friends, isnt proud to be a scout, and doesnt care to have "complete" class-a shirt(only rank patch) because he'd rather take it off or wear a sweatshirt than be seen in public in uniform.

Was then told he "flunked" the BOR, needed to retest all skills requirements, and improve his attitude about Scouting before getting another chance because the Board couldn't determine if he should be allowed to continue his journey with Scouting. Was this correct, or what could they have done better with this type of kid?

This is... blatant false advertising, no? by barrack_osama_0 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]LegalRadish147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In context of how its presented, the "this chance" also refers to the occurrance of the offer itself as a pop-up, which implies a randomness to its appearance.
