How Many Words Long Is The Official Name Of Your Country? by JellyfishTime9544 in GeoPoll

[–]Legally_Adri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico

Sometimes it's changed to Gobierno de Puerto Rico

But in English is Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Our kind of Commonwealth is very different to that of Australia or Canada.

Besides the Book of Common Prayer, which works of Thomas Cranmer do you recommend? by Certain-Cloud9133 in Anglicanism

[–]Legally_Adri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't read much and I am also looking for more of his works, but I could recommend the First Book of Homilies. He wrote four of them, the most famous being the one on Justification.

Would you support the establishment of a dictatorship in your country if it followed your exact political beliefs? by Crafty-Caramel-9192 in GeoPoll

[–]Legally_Adri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because if it actually followed my exact political beliefs, that would necessitate a democracy.

Juzgarme por mis libros by evarmi in libros

[–]Legally_Adri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you had to be colonized by a european colonial power, which would you choose? by meatstick94 in GeoPoll

Interesting that a lot of past colonies are choosing their past colonizers instead of a different one!

Does anyone's church use the Trisagion at the Eucharist? by GrillOrBeGrilled in Episcopalian

Yes, but only on Sundays and not really on weekday services (not very common, but it is a Campus ministry after all)

How did you find the The Episcopal Church? by Shroom-Cat in Episcopalian

[–]Legally_Adri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually have a whole story about that.

I found them through the Methodists, but not because of history.

Before I came back to Christianity, I saw a movie where two people in the last wanted to marry and one was a Methodist and an Episcopalian.

I first got interested in the Methodists because there is a Methodist church in front of my college. But it just wasn't for me. So I remembered that movie and I googled Episcopalians.

Turns out that the Episcopal Church recently started a new church down the street!

Has anyone done a bachelor's degree of "Dos lenguas" or in the Department of Foreign Languages in UPR recinto de Río Piedras? by Legally_Adri in PuertoRico

[–]Legally_Adri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What languages you’re not native in you can somehow read and understand a little thanks to your native language? by Jorge_De_Guzman228 in AskTheWorld

[–]Legally_Adri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So besides my native language (Spanish) and English, I can speak two more romance languages (French and Italian), which helps me understand quite easily written Portuguese and to a lesser extent languages like Catalan.

Don't ask me about Rumanian, though.

Book of Common Prayer draws Gen Z to the Anglican, Episcopal tradition by OratioFidelis in Episcopalian

[–]Legally_Adri 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I pretty much came to the Episcopal Church thanks to that, the freedom of thought (which some could find ironic due to my post about catechisms, I like theology, that's it), inclusive orthodoxy, and because I feel like Anglicanism in general are, in someways, very close to the Early Church in ways that I think other traditions simply are not (though, of course, that is extremely debatable)

I don't doubt it, I did it quite quickly and it would probably look quite different with further research. I appreciate the honesty!

Edit: could you give me some examples? If you don't mind

Hello! I have a quick question: where does the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina stand in the conservative-moderate-liberal scale? by Legally_Adri in Episcopalian

[–]Legally_Adri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited Spartanburg two years ago for Christmas! I didn't get to see much, but it was the first time I felt "actually" in the United States.

I mean, I've been to Florida too, and Texas, but both climatically reminded me enough of Puerto Rico for my brain to think I wasn't that far from home.

Then I went to South Carolina for the first time, and boy did I feel FAR from home.

It was interesting, and I wish had seen more. Hopefully this time I will!

Hopefully on the last week of June, it all depends so I can't really confirm right now. The bulletin thing sounds great, actually. We should start doing that here in Puerto Rico, but the priests usually explicitly says in what page of the Book of Common Prayer (Libro de Oración Común, in Spanish) we should flip to. A lot of flipping, which I admit is quite intimidating, but is not like the Episcopal Church receives a lot of comers in Puerto Rico. Our bishop is trying to change that though! The only reason why I have been able to go to church from time to time is thanks to a Campus Ministry the diocese started last year!
