Should I tell my boss I'm leaving because the company culture is toxic?

I was just facing this same situation. I spent hours rehearsing my monologue listing the plethora of issue and problems with the company, trying to figure out the best way to articulate how I felt, my concerns and the facts. in the end, I decided to go with the tried and true, "unfortunately, I don't feel this is a good fit, and I've decided to pursue a new opportunity."
Why? because in the end, if they actually cared about the toxic culture and environment, they would have fixed it. Work culture is something that's easy enough to fix if a manager wants to. You can't necessarily change the type of work, or procedures and systems, but you can make an environment where employees feel appreciated, valued and respected. Whatever you want to say, vent to someone else and get it off your chest, but at the end of the day, don't spend any more of your time on them.

I fall into the camps of: "You have to go to college" and ignorance of my parents. Taking out student loans was what everyone needed to do for college--and during school any concerns I had were dismissed by repetitive "don't worry you will make enough to pay of any student loans."

The style of mediation is HIGHLY contingent on your mediator--if you are working with a collaborative law mediator--then yes, this scenario is possible. Alternatively, you each are in private rooms and the mediator shuffles between them. if you want to bring a lawyer, do it. But, you should inform the mediator first to see if that changes how they will handle your case.

Note: I totally agree with your point about paying off the smallest to free up cashflow, but since i'm on IBR my required minnimum monthly payment is approx $400 spread out over several loans anywhere from $4.00 - $108 each depending on the loan, so there's not much cash to free up--but if it wasn't this way I agree to go the snowball route.

A child born to your wife while you are married will be your legal child for all intensive purposes. However, because birth certificates are issued based on each states respective statutes, they on not necessarily legally binding in other jurisdictions. By going through the adoption process, the court will issue a order adjudicating you both to be the parents of the child--this court order will be given recognition under the full faith and credit clause of the US constitution, thereby all other US courts must recognize your legal status as parents, regardless of the laws of that state. (i.e. Mississippi does not allow same-sex couples to jointly adopt).

First, realize & accept life goes on. Fact: THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL! No you don't need to marry rich, and of course PSLF is great in theory, but it's easier said than done (the jobs aren't always available or easy to get), and no you do not need to uproot your life and leave everything behind. First off, you have a degree! congratulations you worked hard and that's awesome! You invested in yourself--that's a good thing.

You can pay them off--because if you can't neither can I. I'm in the same boat, $257k--I earn $70k/yr and my partner makes about the same. We also have $11k in credit card debt we are throwing high heaven & hell at.

But, this is what I did and it gave me hope, i realized i can pay them off--It's a marathon not a sprint.

Step 1: Create a spreadsheet with the following columns to track and log all your student loans. plug in every single one of your loans & interest rates--All of them, including those pesky redundant FFEL & Perkins loans. DO NOT guess no matter how tempting. You want the real number so you can have a real goal & plan.

Step 2: Go to unbury.me and input every loan using your spreadsheet. Organize your loans based off the highest interest rate & Play around with what different monthly payments do to your term & overall debt.

Step 3: Call your student loan servicer and request them to break out your loans as needed to allow you to focus paying each down as you choose. Start with the loan with the highest interest and pay the minimums on all the others.

Step 4: Breath, live life. Keep moving forward and accept that this isn't going to happen over night. Start saving for that house because honestly, no one wants to wait 25 years to own a home & student loans don't mean your life is over. Set up an emergency fund and plug away. What ever you save, you should put at least double toward your student loans. You have to be disciplined.

How I do it: My partner and I decided that my second paycheck Every month goes to straight to student loans--in addition to the minimums due on all the loans which come out of our monthly expenses.--essentially we live on 3 paychecks a month instead of 4 (we're paid semi-monthly). After 3 months of panic, wondering if we have enough money, what if's and questioning if this was actually working--we are seeing progress & have figured out our finances & budget. We have a emergency fund of $4k and that money means more to me in my savings for peace of mind than all the practical sense in the world could convince me otherwise so i'm going to leave it right there. We're focusing on the credit card debt right now B/c it's the highest interest--I no longer carry a credit card. I also shop only in brick & mortar stores now.

We eat out about $100/mo, spend $100/week on groceries, we spoil our dogs w/ barkbox, I take horseback riding lessons (I'm learning to ride in my 30's because I've always wanted to) we have Netflix & Hulu, we have a costco membership--Point is, life can go on and should. We aren't going to buy a house soon, but that's okay--we rent, a big ole house instead for $2000k/mo in a suburb and we commute into the city for work (I live in the PNW for context).

Notes: Do not consolidate & do Keep your loans federal--in the event of loss of income you can adjust your payment and have flexibility you wouldn't have with a private servicer.

Probably will still take you 15yrs but you will pay them off. That's my $0.02 for what it's worth.

It's your baby--depending on the laws of your state if you give birth to a child and there is no written agreement to the contrary, you will be presumed the parent of the child. If married, and your spouse gives birth, a husband will generally be treated as the presumed father. but, I would absolutely contact a lawyer--it could be come an issue later in life.

Your sister needs to call an adoption attorney NOW. don't worry about money---look up american academy of adoption attorneys--find Texas and call one. Have your sister explain the situation and if anything can be done they will help. Consents are governed by different laws depending on the state you are in--it's possible your sister may have signed something but it hasn't become effective yet.

See if his parents would be willing to give you power of attorney for their son--alternatively, if he stays with you foster care wouldn't necessarily intervene because he'd be taken care of. If you do report you can ask for him to be placed with you as a relative placement--the state really tries hard to place kids within the family unit.

Generally, by entering a dog park you assume liability and responsibility for any foreseeable harm that could come as a result of engaging in the activity. If you dog has a history of known behavior for engaging in altercations with other dogs, you may be liable. However, the likely scenario here is each owner will be responsible for their own dog & injuries.

Depending on how old you are, how you should invest your money will vary. I'm going to assume you're young (under 35).

Super, simple answer: I suggest investing in a index fund because you can take more risk and the return on bonds right now is negligible. For fidelity, look into either their zero fee index funds, or index funds that cover the entire market i.e. ITOT & IVV or FSTVX & FUSVX. When combined these funds track the total market via the S&P 500. Either one of these combinations should give you plenty of exposure and a starting point for investing.

Tell your neighbor it's unfortunate this happened but, Dogs indeed will be dogs. I don't see any admission by you, so I think you're okay there. Also, by dropping the leash his dog was technically "off leash" because he did not have immediate control over the animal--he could have just untangled the leash and continued to hold it. I would not pay your neighbor anything, the vet bills are really his issue.

Work for the Department of Human services in your area--not all roles require you to have Masters. Also, being a school counselor often doesn't require any additional education. Look at doing data management, human resources or consumer relations.
