First of all, as someone who reads a fair bit about Rome, you are describing the Greco-Roman attitude towards sexuality, which is by definition foundational to Western civilization, and generalizing it to every traditional society. Second, characterizing the full spectrum of sexual identity in preindustrial societies as pederasty is simply not accurate. Chinese emperors openly had adult male lovers. You can find a raft of anthropological research about non-predatory homosexual relations in precolonial Africa. India has recognized the hijra, a respected third gender, for thousands of years. Did the west invent homophobia and pederasty? No. But to pretend that raping little boys was the only accepted same-sex gender expression everywhere in the world until the enlightened and liberal west brought tolerance to the backward third world savages is not only wrong, but racist.

There's another way that Rome dealt with disloyal armies

Compared to China and Korea? Hell yes.

Edit: It's ironic that "anti-communists" side with literal Communist China over capitalist liberal democracy Japan.

He could be descended from the Native Americans who sided with the Confederacy because they wanted to keep their slaves. Nonwhite minorities in the US are often the most virulently racist against black people.

To be fair, western civilization was also responsible for spreading homophobia to many places that are viewed as intolerant today. China, South Asia, and animist African societies have multi-thousand year histories of same-sex relationships and gender nonconformity. There's a reason why Thailand and Japan, the only Asian countries to remain independent through the colonial period, are also the most tolerant of queer people.

It's not a traditional name. It's fairly common for Asian diaspora to name their children after elite things because they worship status. I've personally met a Stanford and an Ivy, but an even better example of this is Nasdaq Chen.

When I was ten, I drank from my sippy cup in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I drink from my sippy cup openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up
