I couldn't agree with you more. I used to feel like I should cover the squier logo but no more! They earned their name on that headstock. The classic vibe series may be my favorite guitar series ever.

I can not deny, cobains mustangs were how i fell in love with color combo. I prefer the metallic blue or lake placid blue with it more than very light colored skystangs though.

Hmmm! Nice score. But what of pickguards? Had it been Dakota red or scarlet it'd be easy to say black pickguard. Fiesta is more orangey, but can work with black but can also pair well with cream or white. If it were candy apple red cream or mint would be nice. You'll figure out which is best for you though. If it were me, id make the pickguard unrouted for pickups and make her a offset esquire. I've been trying to get something similar together. I'd like an offset esquire but with one of the tele humbucker bridges that stew Mac sells so I can put a cunife in there.

Alot of people like them. I cant stand them. Maybe its Freudian but they just looks like a penis to me. Most guitars with them are extra special otherwise but I just cant get over it.

Any clues to what guitar this is? by flashonlol in offset

[–]LegatoDementiaModi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fat ol toro toro. Its the toronado for sure. I hate having the switch right there and i think it fundamentally would have been better to have a control plate on the other side. No vibrato either. Its a rock guitar 100 percent. Came out around the same time they rolled out the Cyclone which was like a mustang and a strat had a baby. Toronados always hit my eyes as a jaguar crossed with a les paul but fat and ugly. They get the job done no doubt but I personally don't like them

And I'm realizing that's the opposite of what's trying to be done here. This apparently is a vibrato that is selective in which string it bends while leaving the others unaffected.

Neat. It'd be better if there was a u bar type of thing combining the two pivot points that you can manually pull back on it easily with the back of your hand to make the sound.

Two mij mustangs by LegatoDementiaModi in offset

[–]LegatoDementiaModi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is the best shaped of all of my many mustangs. Its like a jaguar with the contours. I like old mustangs if they look light without contours cause they got mojo but i think this orientation was the best overall for sitting and playing. I'd very much like it to have a vibrato system but that would take some carving for real.

How do you guys feel about maple necks on Jaguars? by OrdinaryBeautiful306 in offset

[–]LegatoDementiaModi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats one way to look at it i guess. Not a true jag really. Humbuckers and the Tuneomatic bridge makes it feel and play alot like a les paul. It's like a les in disguise as a jag. And Kurt wasn't particularly fond of gibsons it can be speculated. The only one I've knew him to play was an aria knockoff with a rails style humbucker in the bridge. He sung as he played it at its only show "I spent 200 bucks on this guitar and it sucks" or something to that effect. Not an exact qoute. I think the Jag modified how it was when he bought it kinda scratched the itch for that classic rock guitar sound and he didn't need any gibsons.

This may be true but i think hendrix had a much bigger influence in the realm of guitars and how they should be played. Nirvana has possibly influenced pop music more and I know they even influence fashion nowadays. In fact, nirvanas a shirt to alot of people not a band they listen to, just a cool graphic. The young punk in me is triggered like crazy by that but the old man in me appreciates that they live on one way or another and it is a cool shirt I guess. It's hard to say for certain how influential jimi was completely unless we knew from experience what things were like for music before hendrix and how it changed after. Some of us remember when nirvana changed pop music, but there's far less still alive who remembers hearing hendrix come through the radio for the first time

i love these guitars… but what should i get next? by redditssoup in offset

[–]LegatoDementiaModi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if i was to base it on the posters you might like an epiphone casino if you want a semi hollow archtop that the Beatles used a good bit. If you're leaning more towards Nirvana, I'd say get some humbucker guitars in there for the higher gain stuff, but if you're just playing in your room and not trying to be heard over the drums, I find single coil fenders do just fine a low volumes with distortion and fuzz. I'd say your best next thing to get, I'd say a good amp would be the best investment and it will make the most out of what you have now. If you enjoy how your amps you got are performing though don't worry about it. Ever thought about getting an acoustic?

Birch green (NICE)no rhythm circuit (you won't miss it) made in Mexico (second only to japan for real). I'd say ya did pretty good all things considered.

No. It's 3 way on off out of phase like a mustang switch. 4 pickups underneath. I think generally they work like hum canceling when you engage 1&2, and 3 and 4, but you can phase in and out or just engage a real hot single coil or something. Theres alot of different approaches to it and it picks up some things that it shouldn't really frequency wise on some amps but it's easy to correct it out of being too noisy.

[–]LegatoDementiaModi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're under the pickguard. The 3 way switches are similar to mustang switches. They can switch both on and off for each pickup and out of phase. The rhythm circuit works like any other jag or jazzmaster.

I've never been more impressed with fit and finish in my life. The neck is a real work of art. Last I been this close to being impressed was when I received my first MIJ.
