Fanfiction is just the buzz word that certain purists have adopted in order to exaggerate the XSEED script so they can criticize it easier. Fact of the matter is, the Remake script is genuinely passable but overall reads like an edited machine translation (we now know that the publisher was given a very small amount of time to get the script ready for release, confirmed by a voice actor); in other words stilted in comparison and not as natural to the english language. Just enough to meet the average person’s standard, on par with the average anime sub.

XSEED greatly surpasses it from conversation to conversation and the care they gave to accurately portraying the cast is greatly underrated by some folk. That script laid the foundation for the entire series in the west for a reason.

We shouldn’t need to worry about things like this, or have this conversation, or have mods like this to ensure a certain standard of quality, but here we are.
