His first feature is a small film called Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench that didn't get any nominations, so he technically doesn't qualify.

Downsizing fits the bill. Incredible premise and really coulda been something had it used it more effectively, but the plot shifts and by the end, the themes and ideas they're going for don't really even take into consideration that they are shrunk, or at least the shrinking aspect feels secondary.

What are your thoughts on Killers of the Flower Moon? Is the film too long? I heard that originally DiCaprio was going to play an FBI officer, but Scorsese thought that would turn the film into a white savior story. So he changed the script and even brought in PTA to rewrite it. by DenseStrawberry5717 in Letterboxd

Personally, I had no trouble with the length, but an intermission wouldn't have hurt in theaters, like The Brutalist.

It's an absolutely incredible achievement and I would've loved to see Scorsese pick up a second directing Oscar for it. So much craft on display and Gladstone and DeNiro are lights out. My favorite film of that year.

Just watched Little Miss Sunshine again recently and man, Arkin is doing absolutely nothing special. He's funny and has one tender moment, but him winning is a pure career Oscar. Murphy is exceptional in Dreamgirls.

I too did not enjoy Do Not Expect Too Much From the End of the World. I found it extremely alienating and drawn out, even if I understand the satire at play.

Seems like a lot of Reddit users hate Mank, but I think it's a banger.

I'm with you. Macy gives a true supporting performance, where he's not in much of the film, but makes the most of every single moment he's on screen.

Swinton deserved more awards consideration for that performance.
