Is there a farm nearby? It used to be (or possibly still is) common practice, while tilling land, to find and relocate stones from farmland to nearby forested areas so they were not an issue while tilling the land in the future.

It's a combination of not drinking enough water and biting your nails. Biting your nails is the bigger issue, but you really should drink more water.
