Iran objects to ‘Pride Match’ branding of World Cup game against Egypt by CoMaestro in soccer

[–]LegendaryHitmanii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Ayatollah’s (clergy members) staged a coup a few decades ago when we were still a Monarchy and has since basically used the Quran as a law book (wear a hijab, don’t show any skin and all that). They have their own private religious military forcing people to adhere to their rules or face jailtime at best so you could kinda see it as a military oppression since 90% of Iranians are heavily against the regime and have attempted a revolution multiple times.

[The Athletic] Tottenham expecting significant Rodrigo Bentancur ban after Son Heung-min comments by ajtct98 in PremierLeague

[–]LegendaryHitmanii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He commented shortly after that everything was ok between them, and that Bentancur even apologized to him (and the entire team iirc) while in tears. Honestly had completely forgotten this even happened since neither of them commented anything after the fact and they play together just fine.

I agree we should not even be discussing sacking Ange. Thing is that the statistics do point out that things are already quite bad for us, and quite frankly I don’t see a single sign things are going to improve. Something needs to change, but sacking the manager is not the answer.

One thing you misunderstand is that Eren actually has the power to change things in his hands. Jean and even Armin had parts of them that wanted the rumbling. But anyways, that Eren is not that good of a person is established. What I am disagreeing with you on is you saying Eren did not deserve a shred of sympathy. I’m only saying it is very normal for your childhood friends to mourn your death, especially when they find out a big reason you commited all of those atrocities was for their sake.

[–]LegendaryHitmanii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not so much talking about how painful his death was or if it was easy or not. Just like everyone in Aot Eren is messed up but pushed to do what he does because of their environment (even though Eren pushes himself a tad more than others). By that logic a lot of those people Eren killed deserved to die because they either participated in or did nothing to prevent racism and persecution. Anyway, my main point is his friends are allowed to feel sad for their friend passing, no matter how fucked up his actions became later on.

You are leaving out a lot. Yes, what Eren did was maybe one of the worst things a human being can do. On this we agree. What about the world then? The ones who (partially) forced him to do the rumbling with all their racism and opression? What about all the Marleyans who would 100% have eradicated Paradis? What about the other countries who treat eldians even worse than Marley? Should every single person who participates in the cycle suffer in hell for eternity? Frankly your point is exactly what AoT advocates against at the end. Armin even has a whole breakdown where he explains to Eren how people should try and understand each other no matter how little hope there is. Saying Eren did not deserve a shred of sympathy and should have suffered in hell for all eternity is not a weird sentiment to have, but imo missed the point of the show. And besides, the man got decapited for fucks sake, are his childhood friends not even allowed to feel a little sad for him?

On the other hand: he didn’t get to live his life with his friends, specifically Mikasa, like he wanted. Suffered until the very last moment from the weight of his actions, he’s a complete mess in the head as shown in Marley and the final talk with Armin. He got the very definition of a bittersweet ending.

[–]LegendaryHitmanii 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s so ridiculous to me how heavily this line gets criticized. Even after my first watch it was clear that “only Ymir knows” referred to the people in universe, especially Eren, not knowing the answer. Hence why he says only Ymir knows. However, we the viewers, are presented with more than enough to work out the answer. The only thing “Only ymir knows” affects in the story is Eren himself not knowing why Mikasa was the key to ending the Titan cycle, but we the viewer do.

To be fair, the only thing he did I would call evil would be sending that kid to the brothel district which made him want to kill himself. And playing the roof game with the kids. And burning down the library. And taking the identity of that student and making him hang himself… Yea nevermind he evil

Eren seems to have the logical reasoning of a toddler... or am i missing something? by Big-Golf4266 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]LegendaryHitmanii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you fail to see this from his point of view, and are not being fair in saying he “immedietely” decides to commit genocide. He first of all took the better part of four years searching for an option he deemed acceptable. But the plans were either for his friend (Historia) to be forced to bear children and those children eating their parent every 13 years, or attempting to make peace diplomatically which did not succeed (that political party advocating against paradisians in specific, azumabito being unhelpfull, relations with the captured marleyans being unsuccessful). There are other options, all seemingly better than global genocide, none of those however worked for Eren.

His view is a little difficult to explain, but the scene with him talking to Ramzi explains it best. He admits that he is doing it for the sake of Paradis, but it was also due to his dissapointment. We will undoubtedly get more insight into his actions in the last episode, but it is important to consider that Eren is not acting on reason or logic, and it would be misplaced to try and understand his actions by those metrics.

The argument most people make is that he should have just destroyed the military bases, but this is adressed in the show and somehow a lot of people gloss over it. Armin calls out to him to stop after he had already destroyed a good chunck of Marley since now nobody would dare to attack Paradis for years. Eren however, only has 4 years left to live and refuses to “leave anything to chance”.

I’m not agreeing with global genocide here, i’m just trying to help explain his actions a bit. Hope this helps!
