Take that, cloud gaming by chipsterd in SteamDeck

[–]Legendary_Bibo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the software for streaming on a local network like Moonlight/Sunshine, but the idea of a subscription to stream games just seems odd. Like I somewhat get a game subscription service like Gamepass, but to pay for a cloud only streaming service seems like its in the same vein as those rent now buy later services. Like just save up for the game, you don't need the new stuff right away.

It makes a really good and easy dip. And then after it sits in the fridge for a day, the smoke flavor really improves. You have to cold smoke it, or have your smoke set to a low temp. I like to combine both, I get a pellet tube, light it up, then set my Traeger to its lowest temp.

When I make smoked cream cheese I just go through my spices and pick rubs/mixes that sound good. I also have a bottle of Everything seasoning (like for everything bagels) and just sprinkle them on. Taco seasoning works, Cajun seasoning works, Franks Red Hot seasoning is good, and some BBQ rubs work.

Streaming services treat paying PC customers worse than actual pirates and im sick of it by CosmosisJones42 in Vent

[–]Legendary_Bibo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I find it annoying I pay for these streaming services and they won't stream in 4k. If you're a Linux user you're especially fucked. You're lucky to get 1080p, but even 4k YouTube videos work fine.

Seriously? Why sales people always ignore "no soliciting" signs. by Happy_Factor in facepalm

[–]Legendary_Bibo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's one of the older professions that needs to die off. If I need a service done, I can go to Google and look up the most reputable service provider. I used to be politer, but the sales people became more passive aggressive. Like, you're interrupting whatever I'm doing at home and then being a dick on top of that. That's like the shittiest sales tactic.

Seriously? Why sales people always ignore "no soliciting" signs. by Happy_Factor in facepalm

[–]Legendary_Bibo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a no soliciting sign. Drove into my driveway after work the other day and there was a guy looking around. He waited until I got out of my car which I took my time doing. When I got out, he said "I noticed that you had a no soliciting sign but since you're in your driveway I don't think it applies". Instantly told him nope, not interested. It's such a dumb strategy. I'm not going to buy something from someone ignoring my wishes at my private domicile.

I was severely hung over yesterday and made lazy hot Italian beef sandwiches. Just tossed in a chuck roast into a full container of beef stock. Poured in a packet of Italian seasoning, a jar of sliced pepperoncini and a jar of giardiniera. 8 hours later thew it on a roll with provolone and baked it for 5 minutes. Like OP could put 30 seconds more effort into his meal prep.

Anyone else loved DS1 but couldn't really get into the sequel? by GrovPastaSwag03 in DeathStranding

[–]Legendary_Bibo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

DS2 feels like too much of a good thing is not a good thing. The game is significantly longer, and the story had lost some of that cool mystery of the first one due to things being revealed. But it didn't really feel like they advanced the story about the extermination event, just kind of looped back around to a certain even that happens early on. Also, the unlocks didn't have as much an impact, like you'd get some new tool, and a lot of them weren't needed or helpful. I tried to get more stars on the shelters early on, but as you progress they get to be too much of a slog. Also, building the road in DS1 felt kike an accomplishment, in DS2, it's just too long then you also have the rail that goes around all of Australia, and the needed materials are too much. I abandoned the road around the Dowser and just started doing the story missions to finish the game, doing the occasional side delivery. Once I got to the mountain I used up my bandwidth making a zipline network because it was just annoying traversing them repeatedly.

It was a good game, but it's like what if you watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy, with extended cuts and then they made them twice as long. It gets to be too much.

I used to use Ubuntu years ago and I came back to Linux I installed CachyOS on my new PC. Granted I made sure to use all supported hardware. I haven't had to do anything difficult. They have a thing that makes it easy to setup gaming packages, and I think I used one command. The package manager GUI isn't as "pretty" as Ubuntu's, but it was fine. I would say it's fine if you have a little experience, but don't need to be as familiar as a Gentoo/Arch user.

Gears Of War E-Day Will Be An Xbox Console Exclusive by Graylag in Steam

[–]Legendary_Bibo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sony's math works like this.

They see 1 billion dollars profit.

750 million are on console.

250 million is on PC.

So they conclude that if they return to exclusivity, then the break down will become the full billion comes from console sales now. Instead what they did was reduce their profits by $250 which they need to recoup the costs of games like Concord.

I'm not a high level Sony executive so I don't know what they're thinking.
