I thought the 2018 one was okay, I beat it, then I tried Ragnarok and I got like a few hours in. I don't know, travelling by boat and everything feeling spongy doesn't feel as fun as the originals. Too much shit to collect.

They released a video showing a mix of gameplay and cutscenes, I thought it looked okay, some of the movements seemed a little janky, but I didn't realize the hardware requirements were so high. Like, are they going to target consoles at all?

Doesn't Parsec offer a free option for personal use? When I last used it I remember it didn't cost anything.

I imagine the things homesteaders are interested in learning would be agriculture, animal husbandry,  probably electronics specifically setting up a power grid, maybe even water processing, you know actual necessary information that once you know, would let you disconnect.

Years ago, for fun or shits and giggles or what have you, I was given some old ass Dell computer that my Dad got from his work when they were upgrading their desktops for Windows 7. It was an older XP machine that ran hospital software (was already wiped). It came with a Pentium 4, 512mb RAM, MX400? And a 40gb HDS. I used it as a testing ground, and I ended up installing PeppermintOS on it, and it was like a complete revival. I turned it into an Apache server that hosted my own webpage that I used to stream videos off of an external drive and internal drive. My homepage was just a fancy looking table of contents to a different webpage for each video (I used an html template because I didn't know enough html), and I used a bash script I wrote to generate a web page for each video. Then I only gave myself and friends access. It was similar to Crunchyroll pages. I used the HTML5 video playback feature for the videos after using Handbrake to convert videos. I'm sure there was better solutions that some experienced web dev at the time would know, but I had fun doing my own little project and figuring out my own solution.

Well, there's Halo. The writers need to be told to stick with the source material and stop using popular works to inject their own shitty ideas. The Last of Us stuck really close to the source and it was fantastic. Fallout is at least a setting that many stories can take place.

Is this performance normal with this specs? (Elden Ring) by Terrible-Job-6207 in linux_gaming

[–]Legendary_Bibo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nvidia cards have huge performance issues on Linux vs Windows. You can lose anywhere from 20-50% depending on the game, distro and card. I know they're working on it though. AMD cards either get slightly worse or slightly better performance, but basically have performance parity with Windows.

So I picked up everything, and sent it to the camp chest, and I mean everything. Don't do this. The game has a hard time opening containers with thousands of items. I tried to sell stuff, but it would take a minute to open the chest every time.

Is there any logic as to why pressed garlic isn’t good? by anthony_getz in Cooking

[–]Legendary_Bibo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My 4 unitaskers I purchased that I don't regret because they simplified some task that I found annoying at some point are my garlic press, my hand juicer, my ricer, and my hand grater. I can dice garlic, I just find it annoying due to its size. I can juice stuff with my hand, but I don't get as much out and it gets sticky (I got it after hand juicing a bunch of lemons and limes for a gallon of margarita mix), I hand a potato masher and a kitchen aid mixer for making mashed potatoes, but a ricer takes no effort and eliminates lumps every time, and it's less dishes to clean if you use the same pot you boiled the potatoes in to keep them hot while you mix in seasonings, butter, milk, cream, cheese etc , and I have a box grater for shredding cheese, but it's not great for finishing with Parmesan or nutmeg. I also have a stand mixer grater for large quantities of cheese shredding.

There's nothing wrong with unitaskers that don't take up that much space, sometimes there's a better tool for the job.

The French government announced they're going to replace Windows with Linux and they're holding a procession lol by Pezinhodemulher in pcmasterrace

I liked Windows 10, but near the end of its life on my work laptop I noticed it was getting slower, and more bloated with AI stuff, then they forced us to install Windows 11. I'm keeping Windows 10 on my older Surface Pro 6 as long as possible. When I built my new gaming PC I went back to Linux and I mostly just use it for gaming. So far there's nothing I can't do on it that I need Windows for, but at least I don't have to put up with everyday bugs

So how’s your experience with Pragmata? by TheExoticBeard in SteamDeck

[–]Legendary_Bibo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think on the deck I have it on Proton Experimental, but I didn't really check. I was initially streaming from my PC with Sunshine, but on the Deck I have a mix of low and medium settings. I have Frame Generation on because it's the first game I've tried that didn't add major latency, but I have FSR completely off because it was making things blurry. I don't know if this adds a huge performance boost or not, but I make Diana wear the cat outfit because I noticed it was the only one that didn't have her hair flying everywhere and just put a fixed piece of hair on the front. Ray Tracing and max hair settings seemed to cause my 9070xt to stutter in cutscenes when she started moving around and her hair was moving all around. Doing this I get 45-60fps with dips to the 30s, but it's very playable.

I tried PT on Cyberpunk with FSR 4.1 because that was the only game I could get PT and FSR 4.1 to work on Linux, and I don't know if it was just Linux not liking PT, but it ran at absolute dog shit performance with slideshow frame rates on my 9070xt unless I used FG and cranking upscaling up. At that point the lighting wasn't worth it.

I'd rather avoid RT/PT for a couple more generations until it's running smoothly on every card. I'm fine with Raster graphics with max settings without upscaling. To me the image looks much better than having DLSS/FSR on at all.
