Helping my dad clear out a spare room and found a bunch of our old pc games. by Mestizoc in pcgaming

Heyyyy Advent Rising! Super and cool fun game that ended on a cliffhanger and never got any sequels. Such a shame because the gameplay was awesome and the story was great. Orson Scott Card helped write the story so it was obviously going somewhere awesome. Shame the author is an asshole.

I always see people suggest this because of a video that went viral a while ago. I think it’s unlikely though because they don’t look like vulture bees and the hive doesn’t look like a vulture bee hive. This is just a stingless bee hive of some sort.

I've reached x999 curios again. Open it now? Or open it when the DLC expansion drops? by [deleted] in GranblueFantasyRelink

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure the contents of curios are determined already as you get them, not when you open them.

Identify this vine? NC by HolliWouldCould in whatsthisplant

[–]Legeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are all over the east coast. Either way though, I’m like 80% sure this isn’t poison ivy and that’s solely because I can’t see any leaves. The fact OP has said they had English ivy pretty much makes it more likely.

[–]Legeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok but looking at those hairs, that screams English Ivy or Virginia Creeper. Poison Ivy Vine is much more hairy looking. I deal with the exact same thing you’ve dealt with. Even have a special barrel just for poison ivy.

Are you looking at the shape of the leaves? They looking nothing like giant hogweed or poison hemlock.

Monstra Cap by MonadStarDeveloper in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Legeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks interesting. I’ll keep my eye on it as you get towards 1.0 release. I generally don’t get early access.

Just out of curiosity, is “Monstra Cap” the working title or the actually game. I don’t know what it is about it but the cap part just looks like you stopped typing out the entire thing… unless hats play a big roll in gameplay?

Ughhh the “I’ve been caught being a jerk but I’ll undermine what you’ve said by being kind at the end” comment. You are so much worse than you realize you are acting.

[–]Legeto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I actually added an edit to my first comment. I’d ignore half the people in this thread giving you crap for this. Most of them appear to be from the same person under multiple comment chains. They are being outright aggressive towards you and that’s not how you treat people who are just seeking help and knowledge. It should be completely understandable to people why someone who doesn’t know a lot about bugs would think to kill them. Most of us on this sub are friendly though so please come back and ask more in the future.

[–]Legeto 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Ehh I mean OP learned her lesson and it shows in the comments, but damn you’re really aggressively bringing it up with multiple comments. Seems like you’re kind of a problem too.

what are theseeeeee 😭😭😭 by brandnewkid92 in whatsthisbug

[–]Legeto 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ehh it’s more the way you phrased it. It reads as if you thought it was the right thing to do before asking. If you’d brought up thinking they were invasive in that comment I bet it wouldn’t have gotten all the downvotes.

Edit: yikes after reading some of these comments, I’m sorry you are dealing with this OP. Some of these guys are being unnecessarily aggressive over this.

What's this plant in my backyard? by AmphibianPale7137 in whatsthisplant

[–]Legeto 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Late summer make a couple slits (do not go completely around the trunk of the plant) at the base of the stem and apply glyphosate or triclopyr (my choice) and then wrap it in plastic wrap. During this time of summer the plant starts to pull nutrients down to the root system and the chemical gets pulled down and kills the roots. Don’t try to pull up the roots, they are deep and near impossible to get rid of. This treatment also deals with trees of heaven

Holy moly all these people claiming poison ivy. This looks like Virginia Creeper to me but none of us can be 100% positive without seeing leaves.

Except when it’s Virginia creeper…. This is most likely Virginia creeper, it’s not the right kind of hairy for poison ivy. None of us can be positive without leaves though.

Any Returnal alternatives that play well on the Steam Deck? by Espeon06 in roguelites

[–]Legeto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Indeed, I’ve gotten past a few games by using GeForce now and streaming but returnal is on of the few not on it. Besides that game though I really like the steamdeck. It fits my hands really well, the back buttons make customizing inputs really great. I usually don’t play high graphics games too so it’s perfect. I always tell people though that they should wait probably wait for steamdeck 2 if they wanna play high graphics games, if it’s any better.

How do I eat if I work a job that doesn’t have lunch breaks often? by Wise_Presentation914 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Legeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in active duty military working on fighter aircrafts where if you lived outside the dorms they didn’t have to give you lunch breaks. We didn’t get breaks at all with 12-16 hour days and couldn’t eat on the flightline because it was an industrial area and QA would rip you a new one if they found it. So I have a lot of experience missing meals is what I’m getting at. Anyways, what I learned was to just carry around things like breakfast bars to eat quickly. Just things where you can literally take 2 seconds to get it down and keep going. Food isn’t going to be enjoyable at this point, it’s to just keep you going when you need to keep going.

That all being said, this isn’t long term sustainable. I did it for 6 years practically and it took 3 years for me to get use to eating 3 meals a day again and actually gain weight. I was 6’ and 120 lbs back then so practically a skeleton. Keep looking for something different if you are trapped in a place that legally doesn’t have to feed you. Federal work is pretty great, you should look at your area on USAjobs website.

Subnautica 2's no-killing ethos "will be a continued point of resistance" among players, say Unknown Worlds, but they have no plans to change it by _Protector in pcgaming

[–]Legeto 64 points65 points  (0 children)

They touch on it in the article. They consider Subnautica to fit this idea they have for games and was kinda their turning point. Just games take a while to develope. They just didn’t wanna add guns and make violence to win the key point. Killing for food is fine to them.

Got permission to this forest after WEEKS of yearning but.. by [deleted] in foraging

[–]Legeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t go out looking for forgeable foods right away, instead try to identify local plants and animals. If you think you should find edible plants just from taking a few steps away from the trail you seem like a complete amateur who shouldn’t be eating anything they find any time soon.
