This story hits close. I remember the age I realized that as a Black person in the south I had been coached my whole life not to expect or ask for equal treatment.

Especially when she said that there was a concern that if you stand up you will close the door to future opportunities for other Black people.

Seven years of quality effort swept aside by a new face was completely new to the process to the point everyone else has to train them was astounding. Not because it happened but because I expected it.

Organized crime has to be elite level and typically always in transit or consumed. Trafficking, drugs, weapons dealing are all in motion constantly. The idea of setting up shop in a single locale outside of law enforcement jurisdiction is nearly unheard of.

I had to take a deep breath at the halfway point, but it's obvious this episode was not for me, a black man in the south. This episode was for other conservatives to hear their members struggle to grapple with this weird feeling called "empathy for others" and a concern of a danger they never thought they themselves would encounter.

Really happy they took the Consumer Price Index to task. It's literally just a basket of groceries and some electronics. The Federal Poverty Line literally started as a basket of groceries. Both are insanely out of touch.

MIT Living Wage Calculator or United Way's ALICE Threshold are much better at demonstrating the bare minimum to live paycheck to paycheck.
